Selena B211 Part1 Restoration and Alignment

The Selena B211 radio is a gorgeous example of germanium transistorized radio.
The B211 is part of a series, B210, B211, B212. The 210 and 212 have FM CCIR(87.5MHz-108MHz) and the 211 has OIRT(65.8MHz - 73MHz) FM.

The radio is USSR made, and the 211 model was popular in Romania. And by today standards this little radio AM and short wave performance is nothing less then AMAZING.

In this part we do basic TLC, caps change, contacts cleaning, and general cleaning of the unit. The contacts of the turret are extremely dirty and really need a good proper cleaning.

In the end we test some capacitors pulled out of the unit, and we do a little alignment of some supply voltages and bias on the final transistors.

In the next part we will try to convert from OIRT to CCIR FM band. I think it will not be easy, nor successful.

In fact, Selena is a complete analogue of the Ocean-209 radio receiver for the USSR. It’s just that Selena was produced specifically for export to Western European countries, and, accordingly, had higher frequencies in the HF subbands, and a full FM range of 88...108 MHz.

Hello. I have the same radio, but i have a problem.
I have let the radio turning, but i have forgoten it like this for one night. The day after, it was shut off because the batteries was knock out.
I have changethe batteries, but the radio have never work again. And because i havenot the cable for the 220V, i can't try it on 220V.
Have you got an idea of what could be dead inside??
