Too Good To Be True? - Elegoo Neptune 3 Max Review

This is a full review of the Neptune 3 Max from Elegoo, which is one of the largest desktop 3D printers on the market right now. They sell it for $470, which I thought was a little too good to be true. So, in this review I cover all my findings.

Haha loved the “vase in vase mode… for the thumbnail”

Can’t wait to see what big stuff you make with this!

I just bought one. Its awesome. Great quality. Great value.
One thing you didn't mention. The box is huge. And very heavy. 22kg. Footprint not as huge as the box thankfully. Sits nicely on my kitchen table.
Very smooth running and quiet. Really can't fault it. Not had a bad print yet.
Bought mine directly from Eelego UK. Best price i could find and fast delivery.

Finally someone i can trust!!
I have watched several reiviews, and i still wasn't sure about this printer, but then I discovered your second channel (immediately subbed), and after your review was sure i can order one.
I love your videos and ideas, and i really trust your opinions about 3D printers (Jet surfs, boats, hydroplanes, topography, sand
Thanks for everything.

Wow this looks really really impressive. $470 is a lot, but to be able to print that large with that quality, seems like a great price. As for the touch pad, I think you should generally pick it up and use it like a phone, that way you aren't bending down to touch it anyways. I really like that feature, actually. Can't believe how well that building and vase printed out of the box. Nice quick review!

I plan on getting one of these. I’m building my first Ironman suit and would love to print whole chest, back, and legs in one shot. I’m using two Sovol sv03s right now but always have to split chest and back in four pieces then pla weld them together. I’d love one of these

I gave up on a project that I struggled with 5 years ago? I tried to print a surfboard I designed on 3D studio max on my tevo tornado. In 7 sections I planned to glue together.
After a-few prints I decided that it was unnecessary to have the outer layer since I was going to fibreglass the board at the end of the protect. I had considered creating a woven outer layer in plastic that I could simply paint with epoxy but that proved too difficult and there were no patterns I could just render into the design.
I decided to just print the infill but couldn’t find appropriate Infill patterns that would work well. Ideally it would be need to be a graduated triangular infill with minimal density at the core of the structure to a maximum at the edge. This would save weight and cost and print time.
I think the biggest issue was printing horizontally in some of the orientations. I looked at gyroidal structures for this as their curved nature would help but still was unable to attain the graduated density required to minimise weight of plastic.
Might pick the project up again. Do you know any software products that are around nowadays that could help?

Thinking about getting a couple of these to replace my Anycubic chirons, I doubt they could be any less reliable.

How big is the nozzle heater? A large printer like that would be a great platform for larger nozzles (if the heater is strong enough)

This is an excellent comprehensive review and really has made me stop and re-evaluate my purchasing decision. I had been looking at the Creality CR10 Smart PRO and then I saw this advertised and now watched your video. To be honest I have been a bit **** off with Creality as I asked them a very simple question about the new K1 … that was 10 days ago and still no response. When you look at a lot of these printers they could almost come from the same factory … a few minor differences and different badges. Do you know if the Elgoo printer carries all the European safety certifications. Great video thanks

Thank you. I would appreciate an update if you are still happy. I will print petg, but without an enclosed chamber I probably can't print Asa right?

You can see smoke come out the print head at 2:45, must've been that shorted cable getting power.

Thanks for the video, printer sounds great. Support sounds great from your comments. Seems that it has dual z lead screws.
Best test for the filament detector is when the spool runs out and you have a kinked end that may not go through the detector. Admittedly they are called filament BREAK detector nor END of filament, but how often does a filament break compared to the spool running out? None available at the moment, I’ll wait till they are before I order, lots on new printers coming out with significant upgrades. If you need size then this is a good option, no doubt!

I took the plunge and purchased this machine... and am I glad I did. It arrived yesterday in a massive heavy box, it was packed extremely well and removing all the parts it was very obvious at the high quality and finish. Assembly was so simple and took me 20 minutes however I then checked to make sure all the bolts were tight and found a few which had become loose presumably in transit. Bed levelling was easy just follow the instructions. Print quality has exceeded my expectations, its not the fastest of machines but who cares, it is also very very quiet. This machine screams quality at an incredible price, sorry Creality your lack of customer care or even a response peed me off so I took my business elsewhere, I still have 2 Creality machines which do work very well but there is just no comparison when you consider the component quality and the price. I paid £370 inc free delivery

Elegoo seems to send out printers to every single one who has a youtube channel, how about if they started making them available instead to paying customers!

Looks like you need to design and print a new remote holder!

How tall is the Max with a roll of filament? I have an enclosure that I need it to fit. I know the website saws 740mm. Is that to the top of the frame or top of the filament holder? Please help. Thanks!
