The Sunlight Local team describes how you can develop open data under the constraint of limited resources. Pittsburgh Councilwoman Natalia Rudiak will provide an illustrative case of open data policy development. The workshop includes discussions on:
- Exploring the variety in existing state and local open data initiatives
- Evaluating different governance structures: augmenting existing job descriptions vs. new hires vs. new working groups
- Showing how to maximize the value of your initiative through goal-setting and outreach
- Describe how to identify savings from anticipated reductions in FOIA requests
- Think creatively about useful resources for open data on the cheap
