Want to know the best way to keep algae from blooming in your pond? There are several non-chemical solutions that may be worth a try. I explore barley straw and its pros and cons. And discuss my preferred way of dealing with most algae problems.

***Keep in mind that only EPA registered algaecides can make the claim of effectively killing algae directly. Pond microbes do not kill algae but indirectly help to balance the pond's ecosystem of excessive nutrients, thereby making it harder for algae to grow well.
