I’ve been waiting to build my first PC since the start of the year, with my main roadblock being, of course, the graphics card. I have my eyes set on the 3060 Ti, and while some people may flock over to the new 4000 series, I’ll be more than satisfied with that 3000 series card at MSRP or lower, especially for a first build. Still holding in there!

EDIT: I’m going for the 40 series now!

You have to imagine with anything that holds any hype within the tech world, the mass consumers will not be able to get their hands on them. With limited availability at launch, scalpers, and any of number things we've seen in the last two years. One of the main differences within new processors is ddr5 compatibility. That being said if you're buying a strict gaming rig with the hopes of using it for other things on occasion. Having ddr5 is nowhere near with the cost to put in your system. It's shown almost no visible advantage in gaming. With that being said they're many of great processors out right now that are extremely good at gaming like the 12 series from intel, amd having the 5000 series. That will will be relevant in gaming for the foreseeable future. Your main worry will be having a gpu that can run the games at a reasonable level to you. That being said even then a nvidia 3060ti and up, or amd 6600xt and up. Will have relevance for quite sometime. Most consumers buy a new gaming rig around every 5 years or so. I say if you're not looking for 4k 100+ fps all the time and in the future. Buy the components now. They're at a reasonable price and you will have something now to play all your modern titles with. Instead of gambling with the risk of waiting out for new hardware and not being able to get your hands on it.

I've just bought a Rtx3080 at retail price today... To say I'm excited, is an understatement.

The price of pre-builts are coming down too. I got a great one from Corsair and its gone down $200. Instead of a new machine, I'm going to get a 3080 and an ultrawide. I would like to see the prices of monitors come down too.

PC gaming is becoming an increasingly unaffordable hobby for the majority. I've been eyeing my first build for 2 years now, but as soon as I start getting prices together I just can't justify spending that much money on what is essentially a luxury item.

The problem with the upcoming new parts (ie CPUs and GPUs) is that the concerning repeat of pandemic when it comes to supplies. (Even though crypto is going down, but maybe the scalpers might scoop up most of the supplies again). So ya, it's debatable if you should buy now or wait.

I never knew, at the time, that a nerd in school becoming my best friend would later on result in him giving me a new state of the art pc every 2 years from his IT company, lol.
Be kind to your nerds in school, kids, you never know if they own a tech company in the future :-)

4:15 agreed hence why I'm gonna build my pc around this/next month. Just gonna grab an i5 with 3060, be able to play games after waiting for almost 2 years and be happy with. At least for the next 3 years until I start thinking to upgrade.

Definitely could wait but the more waiting, the more time I wasted and not playing games. Plus RTX4060 would mostly likely gonna launch next year ans even then, it'll probably overkill for 1080p(in my opinion).

I’m actually just getting into building my first PC now, and it’s great getting something like a 3080 or 5950 for a heavy discount. I don’t need the absolute newest, and it’s so accessible now it’s 100% worth going for the “last gen” stuff”

I just bought all the components to build my first gaming pc about a week ago. I hope I made the right choice!

If you are shopping for a prebuilt, I suggest looking at Build Pro PC. I have the $680 Pro X20 PC and it had a gtx 1650 8gb of ram, 120gb ssd and 500gb hdd. It's an awesome pc and super affordable.

So far I’ve built my platform but I’m still using my gtx970 until the 4070 comes out. Currently rocking 12600k, 16gb ram (with the aim to upgrade to 32 soon) and a well cooled case

So, yeah I bought an Aorus X570s Pro AX and a R7 3800X. I don't regret it. I got both at 100 dollars less than their original MSRP, saving 200 dollars. Which is great. Because I I've spent by 200 on my GPU.

I have 2 AM4 platforms. I maxed them out now, rather than waiting. At 60 years old, I didn't fell like it. The two gpus for those system a 3080ti and 6900xt at msrp. The cpus are a 5950x and 5900. The original mid range gpu I paid about 20% too much last year. I was starting with no gpus to begin with. I enjoyed the hunt for parts and much as building them. You defiantly want all the part balanced. I use them mostly for work but that doesn't mean I don't like to play with them.
