Kumla is a Swedish city that is probably mostly known for the high security prison located there. Today we take a walk around that city.

Thank you from Nashville Tennessee USA
I lived in Kumla 1947 - 1952 this video brought back memories for such as the architecture and the familiar yellow color also I think the red colored building by the pond was there in my time also the appearance of the sky still has the same feel as I remember. Our family lived in an apartment on Solhemsgatan was that pond called Kumlajon? Not sure of spelling.

Thanks for the tour of Kumla, that was really interesting!
Exactly as you state in the video, the main thing I and probably many other Swedes know about Kumla is the prison, and the term "Kumlabunkern" I have used as well my whole life without ever really knowing if it is really a bunker or if it is just a regular prison described as a bunker. :)
I basically only know one more thing about Kumla besides the prison and that is that Kumla has a really good speedway team called "Indianerna". At 16:26 I heard something that could have been speedway sound but probably not.
it was interesting that you mentioned that Kumla is a relatively young city, I think you can almost see that from the buildings in the city center, majority of buildings seems to be from the 40s and onwards.
One thing that impressed me was how many trees exist in the city centre, around the square, even lining the streets. And the city park seems great. All that water and green open areas where people can walk and kids can roam around. They must have had at least a few really good and influential city gardeners in Kumla through the years!
Also I like the old water tower at 8:15, these old water towers that one can see in quite a lot ofSwedish cities, they look like giant towers from the chess board! They are much more nice looking compared to more modern water towers. Come to think of it, I seem to enjoy all buildings that have something towerrelated to them. There is just something to that.
I did not know about the history of shoe making In Kumla and I agree that placing the museum inside an old shoe factory really makes sense. Next time I think of Kumla I will not only think about the grey scary Kumla Bunker(which might not even be grey 😊), but also on the green areas and nice scenery in Kumla
