I always loved the Manila room in a way, it’s just a tiny place in level 0 you could go to, meet a few people, and then go read some documents on the table to find out more about the backrooms and how to noclip.

So my theory of that Manilla Room's "knocking" noise is most likely the people that got trapped there after they went out the same door they entered. Also LOVE the new editing style.

3:00 I believe you may have misread. The article says, "Care should be taken to avoid entering from the same entrance at the same time." This likely means two different people should enter from two different entrances.

The Manilla Room is such a weird find in level 0 but it's really neat if you can find it, a room where you can meet up with other people after spending all alone in isolation, have a drink to hydrate and read information on how to no-clip and such

i really don´t see the "hope" part in the Manila Room. pople who happen to fall into the backrooms might be lucky finding such a save spot and some information about at least the first few levels. but what those people REALLY need and desperately WANT is an exit out of the backrooms - right here and right now. not everyone is lucky enough to even find one of those different save havens inside the backrooms and in some of them you can´t even stay for a long period of time. such places like the Manila Room don´t change the fact that the Backrooms are literal hell. they might even increase the psychological torture on the victims: presenting them a save hideout, IF they can ever find and enter one of them at all and always with the pending doom of having to leave it sooner or later - sometimes even leading them to an even more horrible level than the one they left before.

Edit: i liked the video to show gratitude for your work and i commented to write down what i was thinking. i did both without falling in one of the two categories you mentioned at the end, Broogli.

The Manila Room is a singular, stationary oasis in the vast ocean of ever-changing yellow madness. Beige wallpaper (interior and exterior) gives the square one-room sanctuary its drab moniker. Normally furnished with a table and a few chairs, this nondescript room may feature from one to four doors. This is the only place where people can find each other. Veterans of the Backrooms are capable of stocking the table with helpful documentation. Finding the Manila Room, more often than not, leads the wanderer to Level 1.
