Proudly Produced by RECOVERY TV

Wants some great ammunition to overcome urges in certain circumstances you suspect may be problematic (dates, weddings, football games, etc.)? SMART Recovery has the great ROLE PLAYING TOOL to help you map out future urge scenarios in your mind, and then play them out with a friend in advance so that you can rehearse the urge situations and create the most desirable non-relapse outcome. Starring Ted Perkins.

Thanks Ted for this nice film. We use roleplaying on a regular base on our meetings here in Sweden. Coming Tuesday its time again... 🙂

Recovery meetings can sometimes have tunnel-vision around addictions.  People who are struggling with addictions beyond alcohol & drugs can often feel unwelcome and disconnected from these groups.  That's why I'm grateful for SMART's approach that "we are all addicted to something, and we are not our behaviours." It would be good to see more videos that cover other addictions. Thanks for your great work!

Well said. There's a considerable amount of empirical research in treatment that role playing to practice responses to triggers to drink does improve your ability to do it when the trigger happens. And effectively dealing with triggers directly affects your recovery, in a positive way. Yes, it can feel a bit akward when first trying it but that feeling usually fades quickly once you're actually in the role play. I've seen this repeatedly in my clinical practice treating people with alcohol and drug problems.

I like it, I want to be a game director in addition to ROLE GENERATOR, are there more?
