Why Astro Bot is Game of the Year | Astro Bot Review

Astro Bot recently won Game of the Year, among other awards, at The Game Awards. It was a well-deserved win that I actively applauded and agreed with. Astro Bot is not only my Game of the Year, it might just be my Game of the Decade!

In this review, we'll explore what makes Astro Bot such an exceptional game, discuss a couple of minor complaints I had with it, and see what other games developers and publishers can learn from Astro Bot's success.

My personal GOTY would have been Rebirth but Astro Bot is perfect. It presents a level of execution very rarely seen in most videogames. Everything was crafted and iterated to perfection. It last no more than a dozen hours but it's so much better than most games released nowadays.

It's a shame the current trend of soulslikes and "big boi" games prevents a lot of folks from appreciating it.

Your minor complaint about secret levels is exactly what the dev's wanted you to do. This game is about replay value, and the dev wanted people to replay the stages and find new ways to beat them.

This is exactly what the gaming industry is lacking. The game seems more like a game and less like a money eating / time sucking chore. And add the game doesn't need to take the user down a dark path to be fun, you'd think would send a message to the industry.

I love astrobiology. but i think it's nothing else than the previous astro games. they even recycled the (super good) music.
