They are a producer/singer duo. Amel is the writer/singer and Bryce is the writer/producer. They broke up because they couldn't agree on a direction for their second album, so she went solo and went on to release 4 or 5 incredible albums. Get into her singles "For Real" and "Weary"

Bryce has produced a bunch of other songs, including Toni Braxton's "You're Makin Me High", and he has acted in a bunch of stuff like Beauty Shop with Queen Latifah

And yes - Amel can sing whistle notes. She's an incredibly gifted singer.

Thankful to have had this my whole life. My mom told me it was her and my dad were obsessed with this song together back in the day

Colombia Records was the demise of Groove Theory, their debut album was certified gold, with "Tell Me" as their highest charting single, lead singer Amel Larrieux left to pursue a solo career and was replaced by Makeda Davis. Their sophomore album was never released. Bryce Wilson was also a model, and debuted on Toni Braxton's "You're Making Me High" as her love interest, and was featured in "Beauty Shop" with Queen Latifah and Alfre Woodard.

The beautiful woman is: Amel Larrieux and the man is name Bryce Wilson ( producer)

Ms. Larrieux started a solo career in the late 90s.

The gentleman you hear singing in the background is named-- Trey Lorenz-- who is Mariah Carey's backup singer of 30+ years.

Impossible for your parents not to No Groove theory if they came up in the 90's. They might just not know they name... which is still crazy. Just found your channel today and your killing me with the throw back reactions. Keep it up

Thankfully, I live in the Washington DC area where our local black radio stations still play this song all the time and many others.

The guy in the video briefly for a sec looks like Bill Bellamy

Amel Larrieux had a solo career. But Groove Theory only had one album, which I loved. I love Amel solo as well

Agreed that the video isn’t the best lol but they broke up in 2001. The guy worked for a record label and he met the girl as a receptionist and they formed a group. He was the “producer” of the group, etc. Tell me charted #5 on the billboard 100 and they put out a album that went gold. Thank you for reacting Maj.

Groove Theory sadly only made one album together, but it was so good!! This song went to #1, but it was their only big hit. Just two members of Groove Theory: singer/songwriter Amel Larrieux(one of my very favorite artists! You should react to her "For Real" video if you want some beautiful whistle notes!) and songwriter/producer Bryce Wilson. The male voice you hear doing vocals towards the end is actually Trey Lorenz, Mariah Carey's long time backup singer, the one she duets with on "I'll Be There"

You should do a reaction to a group called Zhane on their song “Hey Mr. DJ”—you will like them

The videos weren't all that back then but the music quality makes up for it.I love this song. Typical 90's vibe. Do these next 2 bops please:
Foxxy Brown ft Blackstreet - "got to get you home"
Da brat ft Tyrese - "watchu' like"

Please check out the 2 remixes of this song. This version is smooth but the remix featuring Brand Nubian has more flavor. There is also another version 'Tell Me' (Go Go Mix). I dare you💃💃🤗🤗😍😍

If you were in NY in the 90s this song was on the radio over and over and over again, haha. 😅
So when you say people can drive to this - yes! This bop went on the entire summer. This and their other hit 'Baby Luv'.

Had this song come out later in the 90s (closer to the 00s) this group would have never fallen off so fast.
