The 4-Star Character Situation is Bad

The performance of some 4-Star Characters has problems, specifically for a Main DPS. Is this a problem inherent to Wuthering Waves, or is it just a symptom of the gacha genre as a whole? Find out better places to invest instead.

In PGR, kuro introduced leap abilities to make their gen 1 units more powerful and switch their playstye. But they're not as powerful as, later released units (gen2). so I think that they could introduce this mechanic into wuwu, to make the 4*s better in the future

4* Sub-dps and Healers are pretty future proof since there are very few support characters in WuWa right now. Obviously in the future, we'll forget about 4*'s once there are enough 5*'s but there might be a good 4* support characters just like in Genshin like Bennett.

I don't really care about power creeping tbh. It only becomes a problem to me when they become "unusable" because of the current state of the game. I'm not talking about meta. As in, does it have enough damage to 3 star a tower stage.

surprisingly, wuwa does 4 stars well. some are.. less than preffered(most DPS four stars.) however, there are the supportive ones, such as our only healer if we dont get spectro mc's 4th chain, or jianxin/verina. theres also mortefi who's currently our only real off field damage character, and danjin is able to solo most bosses. sanhua's basically our only glacio option if we dont get lingyang, and she's free for a pretty good character. yangyang's a good character from what i hear, but i have yet to use her

On paper you're right, but real gameplay matters. Yes 5 star is significantly stronger than 4 star and can make your life easier, IMO It doesn't matter even if old 4star or 5 star will be powercreep by future content because this is not an MMORPG that I need compete with other players. As long as a properly built 4 star can clear the game content it will be enough for me, like in PGR my gen 1 team has been maxed out their stats and still can clear end game content. The only problem is that older characters need a lot of investment on your in game skills because they are harder to play . TLDR as long as you enjoy playing don't worry about being powercreep even weakest 4 star can do damage.

The thing is, unless it’s a dps like chixia and yangyang you don’t have to even build them to make them work. Taoqi, yuanwu, baizhi works at level 1. If you want to invest, Sanhua, Mort, danjin should be a safe investment for slot 2 in your teams. The only unit that has a problem is aalto imo.

Dear Saintontas, for your information - main value of characters in WuWa is coming from their playstyles and skill expression, plus animations. WuWa is an action game. And a good one, where skills are important. No, some bigger numbers are not most important. As long as the game won't evolve in a way that it would be near impossible to clear content with weaker characters, difference in numbers is NOT the problem. Especially when it's about 4*s having lower numbers than 5*s which is... just like it should be. Don't forget about Illusive Realm, awesome gamemode where you can have fun with many characters and how it's proving, again, that this game doesn't have no such problem as you suggest, at least for now. Don't get bamboozled by Excel Impact players, who call themselves theorycrafters, who just care about their DPS calculations and are detached from reality. Real game, like Genshin, is something very different. WuWa - even more, as it's a good action game. Next time consider and talk about things that are truly essential. Good luck.

you forget that 4 stars allow for more fun and unusual gameplay, 4 stars are mainly for fun and allows them to do some crazy stuff with them.

Chixia is actually good tho for a 4*. She's not dps that you can put everywhere, however if you put her against a boss that has no resistance to Fusion, she can decimate it no problem. Same with Danjin(enemy with no resistance to Havoc).

Also, the 4* units have specific niche that can be useful on a specific team. Take for example, Yuanwu. He was labeled as one of the worst 4* unit, and Taoqi. But they found their uses on a Jinhsi team. Although Taoqi is still kinda bad and needs a buff, but she at least have some uses now.

Also, 4* units will always be weaker than 5* units on any gacha game.

For anyone who doesn't want to watch this:

4 stars in this game are good. They take a full team and more min-maxing, but they can clear any content fairly comfortably and work well with either other 4*s or 5*s.

5 stars in the same role will excel, OBVIOUSLY, because of the money factor.

All in all, 4 stars are worth. Just make sure they're built the way you'd build a 5*. There is no bad 4 star, only a bad player.

I've been pulling every limited character so far (I was gonna skip Xiangli Yao but he's supposedly free) but at some point I hope to be more choosey just so I'm not breaking the bank and tbh i don't mind relying on 4 stars if I just don't care about the whatever 5 star on banner. That's why I'm gonna max out my Baizhi lol, I see her as being long term even if I have Verina and another dedicated healer. Same with my Taoqi, funny enough. I've been ignoring my other 4 stars, but also if I get bored I'll probably level them too just to use my faves lol

4* as buff / debuff carriers seems like a good model. you can prioritize your main dps 5* first. but in the long run optimizing your 4* with your excess materials can make your team even better.

I'd say let Kuro cook for now. YuanWu's kit is for a main DPS however Jihnsi made him an actually good support/sub-DPS

Idk what you talking about, ofc I ignore 5 star to max my taoqi. I see no disadvantages as taoqi main, I just laughing people dying left and right with their 5 star dps while my taoqi tank everything while I play on phone.

That's why I wanted this game to have 4 playable characters instead of 3. Because the less you have in the team, the easier is to replace them. It takes a few updates and in less than a year you are already running a better team with new characters and no SR characters at all most of the time. Also unlike other games, bosses in wuwa can still be easily beaten by off elements characters unlike other game that put more emphasis on elemental weakness.
