I've been trying to figure out how to do EXACTLY THIS for at least 12 hours now, but no other guide online led me down the right path, was either too convoluted or incorrect (or I'm just not smart enough yet) but your video was the FIRST and ONLY solution I found. Thank you so much for making this easy and simple for those like me who suffer at the whims of tech! You have saved my life!

A second method that's much simpler: using Rufus, select the option to install "Windows to Go" onto the target SSD drive and whichever Windows .iso file has been selected. After that, boot that target SSD drive, re-configured as the solitary & only internal drive present.

If you get stuck because it says:

“There is an error selecting this partition to install, please select a different partition”

click on it, press delete partition. After that try again.

That software is a blast from the past.

Nice, I actually do this on every new drive, but instead of deleting it afterward I leave it as a final solution recovery option in case everything else fails.

Honestly I'd just leave it like that on a secondary storage drive. Next time you need you reinstall just copy the files and run easybcd or the cmd command equivalent. I already keep a fat32 partition on a different drive for bios updates. Great stuff as usual!

Very interesting and cool. I have plenty of usb sticks, but it's great to know how to do it another way.🍻👍

Great video Bryan.
I believe that if the partition is formatted as FAT32, it's possible to start the installation from another computer. Of course, we’ll need to split the install.esd file into smaller parts in the .swm format before copying all the installation files to the newly created partition.

Thanks very useful indeed. I didnt knew or use of easybcd. Although you can do it on the command line, but this method makes it way more easier

Is it safe to delete all partitions during the fresh install while using EasyBCD? Or will it brick my system?

Great video Bryan. Would this method be "specific" to this pc or could you use it (inter changeable) on any other pc? My thoughts are if you had a used smaller SSD or usb drive, that you could make a great reusable backup of the Win 11 op system for safety sake.
Thanks again for these awesome videos.

Great vid! My only problem is if someone tries to use the PC and select the installer and then delete the partitions 😅

I may get it fixed otherwise, but when rebooting my pc, the options to choose an operating system(the blur screen after rebooting) does not appear. There is a black screen and no mouse that took a good while to go away, as well. Am I missing something here?

It worked for me with a little twist. I did the installation to my SSD through my external HDD, now I always have to plug my HDD in before SSD boots. Can't boot into windows without my external HDD. Any help

Even Better than this, Back in the Windows 3.1 and 95 days, you could even install Windows directly *on the same drive where you had your installation files* (the cab files and the setup.exe) on your hard drive, *without destroying the same partition, * and you could do in place repair installs also, refreshing your system without destroying your programs CFG/data 😉✌️

I bet that the install goes super fast drive to drive vs USB to drive.
