I don't really use much slang in my Scottish dialect whether talking or typing but I can intuitively and completely fluently understand most regional Scottish accents being born and raised around Edinburgh and their dialects and can somewhat fluently speak it too but you sort of just have to. The flow and pace of Scottish informal verbal communication can be pretty fast and bouncy at times so you have to use a bit of slang to keep up, especially when engaging in such pleasantries as banter.
