something needed to be done. My daughter is a senior and has kids in her class that cant read. its so sad. Most days when I pick her up from school she says the teacher taught for 5 minutes assigns one thing and then she sits here for 45 plus minutes doing absolutely nothing.

Media does not report about the overall plans and restructuring of various departments as the goal is often to paint as negative a picture as possible about anything related to Trump.

Kids first! Give them an education. Give them confidence and self worth.

My oldest is 5 and she is going to Kindergarten this year. I am so excited, but nervous at the same time. I was recommended homeschool, but she’s special needs. She can’t be placed in a normal classroom because of her autism. My daughter can’t even pronounce words. She needs professional help and behavioral therapy. It’s a lot. And it’s not easy.

And don't just judge those outcomes from a MAP test. I've literally had my nieces' school stop teaching science for a month in order to prepare for testing. That is crazy!!!

@jilian Jillian, I think you haven’t seen the interviews where Linda explains how they plan to change the education system—like creating more school options such as charter schools, so students in their districts have real alternatives to choose from.

Doing a bit more in-depth research on the topic could really help. The information is out there—people are just too lazy to even ask ChatGP.

Great move. Make our kids smart enough to never vote demon-crat.

Definitely concerned how blue states like NJ will actually redevelop a strategy to improve. We have way too much of a focus on social emotional learning. The standards for academics and abilities of the students are so low. The teachers are forced to teach to the slowest child in the room so the high-flyers end up suffering.

Valentine's Day isn't a holiday in my district, Nor is Spring Break 2 weeks. The DOE has nothing to do with the school calendar. That's handled at the state and local level. you're all excited about this, but the DOE has nothing to do with it. Nothing.

Need to remove the teacher unions from schools. Anyone receiving a paycheck from tax dollars should not be in a labor union.

At first I wasn't sure how to feel about this, but Vivek made some incredibly persuasive points. The department itself seems subpar considering how much money they actually DO recieve but is never allocated properly for supplies, teacher's pay, and programs for students.

Why does Jillian always have a confused look on her face?

It's beyond time to close the government daycares.

She's right. Communication needs to get better at DOGE. I'm sad Vivek isn't a part of this.

Public, compulsory education was implemented in order to churn out workers who were smart enough to operate the means of production, but not smart enough to think critically and wonder why they’re willingly participating in their own enslavement. If this system is falling apart, it’s because these workers aren’t needed any longer, and/or the owners of the means of productive have determined they will not be needed much longer. The ruling class has always hated that they have had to fund public education, even though it was ultimately meant to serve their economic interests. They believe that ALL money is THEIR money, which means that when you pay taxes to fund education, the ruling class feels like that is their money being spent. They have good reason to feel this way, as nearly all of the money they pay us is funneled back to them. Vivek can say whatever he wants, and I’m pretty sure he believes what he says, but that doesn’t mean what he says is the truth. The very rich have always wanted to get rid of everyone else, but they needed people for labor, so they had to tolerate us. Now, because of automation and AI, they don’t need us, and the process of systematic elimination is underway.

It's done not to have standardized education in United States of America

I think they need to pay teachers more money (No I’m not a teacher). Pay teachers more and set stricter boundaries between the schools vs the parents and kids.. such as removing cell phones.. sending behavioral children to behavioral classes or schools all together. Get teachers excited about teaching again. Their hands are tied right now and they’re very underpaid.

There was not a Department of Education during my 12 years of school and I received a great education and can read. I noticed a deterioration of the education that my children received under the Department of Education. I’m not a fan.

The U.S. was doing well for 204 years before the Department of Education was established in 1980. It failed, let it be gone.
