Greetings from Mumbai,
Dr Saab, One more excellent, open minded conversation with an Economist, who answered volley of tough questions lucidly without battling an eyelid.
Lets hope people at helm of affairs listen to such sane voices. I can correlate what guest said about focussed approach on critical areas for next few years to get economy back on track and to break cycle of IMF assistance...with what Pandit Nehru did in initial formative years for India and also later on by subsequent Govs in India.

Pandit Nehru had formed Planning Commission having experts to make 5 year plans, suggest policies etc . All this resulted in focussed planning, executions like building Dams, Heavy Industries, top notch education institutes ( IITs), Research Institutes, Health/ Education programmes, Agriculture boost etc. Modi might have dismantled Planning Commission but has created new body called Niti Ayog, whose role is no different . Its credit to different Indian politicians , who have come to power but all have maintained continuity of Economic reforms.

Since Pakistan's population is 1/6 of India, Pakistan can achieve results with far fewer action points and less funds and faster too to get its economy back on track as compared to India. Dont forget per capita incomes of India and Pakistan are more or less same. regards

Excellent discussion. Just to mention one thing which can increase our IT exports over night is international payment ways. We don't even have a single international payment gateway to facilitate IT exports. No one in Pakistan can sell anything internationally through their own digital platform, they have to source projects from freelancing sites or call centers. People in the banking industry are still living in 19's, you ask them about any digital stuff, they will go blank.

The first lesson we learnt in the university economics class: economic development is neither automatic nor inevitable! It appears that this lesson is being learnt by Pakistani on a daily and ongoing basis.

A very healthy discussion which brings me down to earth and be cognizant of the myriad economic problems still facing Pakistan. Is it at all feasible for there to create a Peace Corp of volunteer Muslims from around the world who can help in terms of skilled manpower for muslim countries which desperately need such skills?😇🇨🇦

1. Trade with India has to be restored. Especially agricultural products. It will reduce food inflation, help common man.
2. Curb every kind of terrorism with iron hand. TTP, BLN, TLP and all kind of wahabi sympathisers. This will help in law and order and thus FDI.
3.Debt swap program to swap high interest debt with long term low interest loan.
4. Dont poke into other peoples affair in the name of religion. If pakistan had not antipathised France, it could have got grants from AFD. France is also one of the P5 in UN. In the long term, you lose much more than getting your rhetoric being registered.

Dear esteemed guest, please explain "Aksai Chin" in that background MAP -- not to me, but the CHINESE - your "friend" presumably!!
Seriously guys, if you can't get something so simple correct then WHO will take you seriously on BIG ISSUES like IMF, FATF etc etc...???
Think about it...!!
Regards.
