This is one of the many reasons why I love Xiao, if you think about it, whether the other adepti and Xiao were considered close or not there is still a type of bond between them, whether as coworkers, friends, master/disciple, or more. I think that's what makes Xiao so selfless as he doesn't think of it in a "but I can't or you'll die" kind of way, even if he knew his friend/coworker would die from such a suggestion, he doesn't selfishly argue or hesitate, still doing it as he knew that whether in death or living, the adepti's job was to look over and protect liyue at all costs, no matter how many painful losses they must bear.

Xiao has just gone through so much, every time he appear we learn more of his past and its just pure pain. His devotion to morax and fulfilling his duty is just incredibly sad, the pain from everyday murder. Not only from getting tired of those scenes of mutilated hilichurls, but from the karma he gains. Even then, he has never gotten a thanks, or even a break. He just there, fighting until eventually he goes crazy to his karma. Not even dreams are able to peace him, truly one of the most saddess characters in the game
Also i find really cute that line from xiao were he says that he has been feeling better ever since traveler was with him, his karma feels a little better whenever he is there with him(or somenthing like that). MORE REASONS TO SHIP THEM

The more we learn about the archon war, the more we understand just how much pain all the surviving archons and adeptis went through. So much sufffering but that makes all the endearing moments we experience with them all the more meaningful.
