I was going through a slump and decided to take off my batting gloves during a tournament. I got like 12 hits and 4 doubles in 5 games. Then a little later I got back into another slump, so decided to put them back on, and started hitting again.😂

A lot of batting is mental, you see big name players go into slumps and you know it’s not a skill thing. Some players have that killer mentality always. Trea Turner, Freeman, Ohtani.

Back in 2012 I remember watching Harper’s swing with my old hitting coach. He was old-school and highly knowledgeable in the linear swing path, technical aspects of the swing, and such. He trained tons of Pros, D1 guys, etc and was the smartest baseball mind I ever met. Anyways, he predicted that Harper would begin to have a power decline in the later stages of his career because he relied too heavily on hand speed and pure strength. He often compared Harper, a talented hitter with fast hands but questionable mechanics, to Freddie Freeman, a highly technical hitter with the smoothest linear swing. They broke into the NL East around the same time and Coach Hoyle always predicted Freeman would have a better career, mainly due to mechanics which he thought would have a big effect on Harper past age 30. I’d say he was pretty spot-on.

I used to use a different color tape. Just so i could see, and by looking at the color change, it freed up my mind and I was able to work through any slump by just hitting instinctually but I love green for a reason

That reminds me of a time that my dad told me when your shooting free throws and you keep missing on oneside of the rim move ablut half an inch to that side of the rim (ex: if you are shooting to the right move to the right and vice-versa) turns out he made that up but the trick works because its mainly about the cofidence that if you do that thing you will get better so the real way to play good is cofidence (side note this only works if you are a good shooter)

When you're in a slump, the ball finds everyone and everything except the hole 😂 in a slump. I've hit liners to the pitcher caught out and balls off the base. Angry times 😂 i love baseball

Funny story Dave Winfield was have a hitting streak or home run or something and my grandfather was a padres ground crew worker and took the bat and then after he took the bat the streak ended

tbh we’ve all prolly been there . I remember i was in a slump with the og goods, i saw that the other half of my team was tearing it up with the one, gave it a shot and went 3-4 . never touched the goods again
