This is why I save 50% of my income. I lived through the great recession and lost my home and car. Never again.

Dave should have told her to deliver pizzas. If this was a man calling and no job for 8 months, he would yelled at him

If a man gave Dave these excuses, he would have flipped out and yelled at him to go get a job at taco bell and drive an Uber and do door dash.

If this was a single Father, this whole conversation would have been different:
DELIVER PIZZAS!
DRIVE UBER!
SCRAPE GUM!
Once again another double standard

She was divorced 3 years ago. Moving may not even be an option depending on the terms of the divorce.

The white collar job market is horrible right now but everybody from the government to the media keeps denying this fact

I wanted to stay close to my family in Virginia, but I decided to start by career by moving to New Mexico for a $75k job. Got an e-mail out of the blue for a $185k job in Colorado. That job ended up having another position open in Virginia and I moved back, still making $185k. My recruiter never would have found me had I stayed in Virginia because they were looking for people near Colorado specifically. Moving changed my life forever.

I'd definitely move if i was her if I could make $300k somewhere else. There's a slim to no chance the friends the kids have today will be there forever.

$2500 monthly expenses in Dallas. Then complains she’s broke after making 100x that in one year. Shut up lady!!!

My daughter got laid off from her accounts payable position 2 months ago, right when she was due for a raise. Single mom. Very small severance. Everybody was so sad she got laid off. She figured 3 weeks tops, she'd have another job. She had applied to over 200 jobs. Beautiful resume, and nothing. She'd get emails saying they are no longer keeping the position etc. Never spoke to a human. Even called some of the companies.

2 weeks ago her former boss, who'd been staying in touch, asked if she'd found anything yet. She barely missed eviction at that point. A buyer position opened and even though they are in a hiring freeze, needed that position filled, and the CEO and a few other managers, all said they wanted her back. They would teach her. She got hired at less than a dollar more/hr than she was making and starts on sept 9th. Rent is due Monday and it's going to be a rough time again, but at least she got a job.... still with nothing in the applications elsewhere. Job market is really weird for sure right now.

Finding a job in a tough market, especially while trying to keep your family stable, is no small feat.

Wait a minute. Why make the assumption the husband dumped her? Stats already shows women initiate 70% of the divorce. With college degree and high income, women initiate 90%.

Nearly 250K a year plus child support, which means she fought for full custody (her choice). She's just been financially irresponsible. No savings but all it takes is $4k a month to get by??? Someone is still in denial. Luckily she wasn't a guy because Dave would have bit her head off and being a fit parent would be in question.

My Dad's office closed. They wanted to relocate him back but he wouldn't move. We lost everything. And then ended back where he came from anyway.

Realistically she will probably need to take a salary cut. Moving isn’t an option.

Why are we assuming "the husband dumped her" and "she is an amazing lady"????

I like how Dave immediately assumes the divorce was the dad’s fault in a country where women initiate a majority of the divorces. I also like how the dad pays child support but doesn’t get a say if the kids move farther away. Not only is the borrower slave to the lender, but responsibility without authority = slavery as well.

Something in the milk isnt clean. She made way too much money for 8 years, plus 3k per month in childsuport, she should've had a rrally nice saving account. Oh she was getting unemployment until a month ago... dont come here play victim manage your money better, she said her living expenses less than 3k

I totally agree with Ramsey. The kids will survive. Military families move all the time out of necessity to provide for their families. They don't have a choice, and the kids understand.
