I love Slavic music and dances! I also love Hungarian music and dances. I married into a Hungarian-Slovak-American family, and really developed my appreciation of the music, culture and food of Hungary and the Slavic countries. I love what I see and hear here!

Hello. "Kazachok" is 100% Russian dance. There is a lot of evidence for this. Also 100% Russian are the dances "Barynya", "Tsyganochka", "Golubets", "Kamarinskaya", "Jablochko" (which you put up as an example of a Ukrainian dance called Kazachok" - a double mistake you have). Etc. We have a lot of dances, but the problem is that there are stage supposedly "folk" dances, and there are native folk ones. They differ very much. Thank you for your interest in Slavic culture. It is huge and diverse.

"Jablochko" — Russian urban dance of the 1910s. This is a stage dance based on folk motives.
Of the 100% folk Russian dances (and not only), you can call Trepak, Kamarinskaya, Golubets, Barynya, Chetvera etc. South Russian karagody (example - Timonya) - mass dances with singing of choruses) and others.

Dance "Kolo" is the national protected heritage of the Serbs. In Serbia there is today the biggest diversity of the most complicated kolo performances. Almost every big city in Serbia has it's own kolo style. ❤

I didn't know the Kozachok is also danced in Czech Republic! :D Does anyone have a link to a video of a "Czech" Kozachok? Would love to see how Czechs do it :D

I remember in elementary, I went to a Ukrainian catholic school and we would learn each region's dance.
Hopak is still the best though.

Русские моряки, танцующие "Яблочко" сильно удивились бы, узнав, что они украинцы. А русские историки, записывающие историю 1000 лет сильно удивились бы, что существует такая нация, как "украинцы".

We used to have plays in grade school and we would dance some of the dances. I went to a Ukrainian Catholic school in the United States.

Брат, украинцы тебе расскажут, что это они русский язык придумали.

Гопак и Казачек - это русские народные танцы.

It's not Kolo, it's Horo. In Bulgarian it is" Хоро" and it was created in Bulgaria.

The origins are wrong in nearly all the dances. Maybe because culture doesnt follow modern borders.

Balkan folk dance has more soul. More so than any of the Slavic dances.
