A big bag of bricks - Comparison to Pick-a-Brick wall

So, I went to Bricks & Minifigs to sort through their used bulk brick. Because the project I am working on is large, I got one of their $40 bags and stuffed it (smaller pieces either this way or from a cup at the Lego store are always most cost effective). I thought I would compare it to the Pick-a-Brick cups to see how much cheaper it was. I would have filled at least 5 cups, if not more with all the plates I got. So, this was at least $30 cheaper, maybe even half price due to the plates.

The savings aside, this was quite time consuming because I was looking for a specific color and certain bricks - hinged plates. I think it took me at least 2 hours to fill the bag. Because my time is worth more than $30, I can only afford to do this when I have nothing else to do.

The next thing to do will be to buy from Bricklink. I have not gone that route yet as I need a lot of brick and many sellers often only have small lots. I will let you know how it goes.

Stay tuned for the first glimpse at my special project.
