Also be advised, most used police vehicles have upwards of 10, 000 cop farts in the drivers seat..

1800 for a water pump replacement is a hard pill to swallow. I ❤ my 2001 Town Car.

3:43 Yeah. It’s called buying a Crown Victoria where the $40 water pump only takes 10 minutes to change and will only leak coolant outside the engine like how a normal car would.

Change the PTU fluid AND Coolant every 30k. Change the oil every 5k and use synthetic oil. You can also check the PH of the coolant with a ohm meter. Greater than 0.03, change coolant, but 30k is good. Keep the acidic oil and coolant away from the water pump rubber seal and it can go 200k+

My buddy just got a 2016 FPIU with 144k miles last November for $9, 000 with the 3.7L non turbo. It is nice and looks real good in the slate grey paint. I have a 2010 and 2011 CVPI in all black. Keep up all the great videos bro.

Apparently around the 2012 year Ford did some kind of dual sprocket system on the water pump and did some changes underneath the timing cover I don’t know how much it impacted the longevity of the vehicle But apparently the water pump is something you don’t really have to worry about till after 125, 000 miles they used to fail well before that still it is something I would keep an eye on Like every time you fill your gas tank maybe check your oil and your coolant level

I’ve had my 2014 for 4 years and put about 70k miles and have had absolutely no problems.

Well, after seeing this video 5-6 times, I made the decision and got a 2016 FPIU! It’s white with black steelies. No crash bar though -_- it needs tons of TLC with some of the hardware still installed and broken. Plus all the holes from the lights on top. But other than that, at 107K it’s a good catch. Starts and drives like a dream. Thanks for the input and the heads up! Keep up the great work!

On a very cool note, the vehicle package comes with bulletproof, YES, bulletproof front doors. The tint job is really nice too. Just have to watch for the rebuilt ones....

The 3.5 and 3.7 duratech have a major flaw which is a chain driven internal water pump that if fails can make your explorer a huge expensive paper weight. They also have a included ptu that fails for those with awd

Ford stopped making the 3.7 V-6 after 2017. The 2.3 4 cylinder Ecoboost replaced it. Another nice feature on the 3.7 is that it is port injected. No unused oil is getting dumped back into the intake like on turbos and direct injected motors. I had a 2017 Mustang with the 3.7. If I drove like a grandpa, I would get about 24 mpg around town and 34 mpg on the highway.

It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.

I had just purchased a 2018 unit. Thanks for your info! I'm actually thinking about having it professionally dyno tuned. 80K miles. It's snappy!
