I dont have a problem with people liking Taylor Swift.
I have a problem with people (and the media) acting like shes the best thing since sliced bread and then attacking those who respectfully disagree.

I don't like Taylor Swift music but I know why she is popular. It's because she has a very powerful marketing team that even Kris Jennifer admires and want to work with.

There is a formula to her success that relys on following "popular trends", "changing herself" in each album but "not changing enough" so to not throw her fans off. "Hollywood dramas" either her relationships about her famous Exes or fued with someone famous or even talking about the music industry being evil. Also trying to be "relatable" even though she's actually completely unrelatable to the average person. Come on she portrayed herself as the ugly duckling in high school while she never was. And said people bullied her high school but she was this super attractive girl that brags about how she has recording deals since she was 14 and also how her rich parent moved to Nashville from Pennsylvania just so she could work on her music career. Totally unrelatable even as a child.

But she write about love, lost, heartache, betrayal, triumphant, revenge, victim hood, insecurities etc. which are all relatable topics. But at the same time some of her lyrics and songs are repetitive because she will use the same beat in different songs and she I'll repeat the same lines in a song for about 30 times. Sometimes a repetitive song stick to you like glue even if you don't like it. I agree her song like earworms but a lot of her beats are also used in other people's songs as well. It's super generic.

i love taylor swift’s music but as a musician i can’t help but feel incredibly discouraged every time i hear that she “is” the music industry. it insinuates that no one else has a chance, at least in this lifetime, of that much success. and so many swifties will defend the music industry claim to the death bc they aren’t musicians themselves and don’t know what it’s like to struggle your way through that kind of career. like i respect taylor, i really do. i listen to her music daily. but the way that so many people literally worship her leads me to believe i don’t even stand a chance, even as a smaller artist.

Really made for younger kids but alot of them grow up to become Disney adults. It hits the same beats as those adults who still dream of being a Disney princess, TS is similarly hit a formula and milking it for all its worth.
