Well, I built my first Pokémon deck when I was like eight, so my thought process went something like this:

“Wow, this one fire type does 100 damage in that one attack! So does this fighting type! Ooh, this physic type does 120! This water type does 80, and this dragon type...”

I basically just compiled a bunch of cards with attacks that did high damage. Big shocker, I never drew the energies I needed and the deck sucked. As a plus, I thought items, supporters, and stadiums were all “useless” and “boring”. What a bruh moment.

I just got back into Pokemon cards and I literally bought a theme deck and a pokemon forbidden light elite trainer box because they were on sale!! How crazy that I bought just what I needed to get back into putting a deck together. I'm trying to film some videos about it as well!

I appreciate the effort and information in this video. Thank you. My son and I have been playing for a couple of months now and basically just been using the theme decks, although we've purchased many, many additional packs and boxed sets. We have built quite a collection. I've been afraid to break those theme decks apart, but we want to build our own decks. This is a great way to do it, so thanks again. We are having fun with Celestial Storm because it is our first new set released since we started playing.

Cool, I'm glad I was on the right track doing something similar. I played Magic as a kid and building decks in that game is way diverse but can be very complicated. I'm having fun rooting out some of the same tricks in Pokemon even though it's a lot simpler so I appreciate videos like this. Thanks!

I recommend buying a dragonite theme deck and throwing in a magikarp and wailord tag team for those beefy attacks. You can also put in some other water type gxs

I started playing PTCG online and learned how to build a decks watching Pokemon tcg players and looking at their decklists. I used to just collect when I was younger and played other Trading Card Games instead. Thanks for sharing the tips. It did help too.

Wish I had kept my gen 1 pokemon deck. Pokemon is my whole childhood and 29 years later I now want to collect and participate in the tournaments. Great video and it will really help us out
