No special preparation is required for FNAC. When the procedure is being asked the patient will be asked to stay still and not make any jerky movements. We don’t want the needles to be displaced outside the lesion to be sampled. So we ask the patient to stay still and the procedure itself lasts for about 15 to 20 seconds and the needle might be introduced at once or at the most twice so that adequate sampling can be done. After the procedure, there will be minor bleeding at the site of the procedure and we usually provide a bandaid to prevent staining of clothes. But apart from, that there are no major side effects. The bandaid can be taken out in a couple of hours and there are no special precaution to be taken after the procedure. The patient can go back to his routine everyday life.
