I was concerned about the heat generated from this SSD inside a gaming laptop. Thanks for the clarification!

The mindblowing side for me is they still can fit dram cache in 4tb single sided, that awesome.

Unfortunately the 4tb version still missing in my country since it first release, so I went with lexar nm790.

Hey, thanks for your well rounded reviews. Spent countless hours researching what i want for my new pc.
Ended up combining 2 of your videos, the upgraded razer 14 which i ended up getting (the 2024 one) and instead of the WD 4tb, used this 990 as its single sided! Perfect! Used your links with my purchases with my appreciation

I installed 2 of these 4TB drives in RAID 0 in my Alienware 18M ....Could'nt be happier. I get close to 14000 MB/s read and write.

The Razer Blade is a proper beast with the ability to have 96GB RAM and 8TB storage 🔥

Really like your videos. I want to point out an issue from nine months ago. This drive (990 PRO SSD) had a 'rapid wear out' issue. Apparently variouse disk health managers reported a very fast degradation in disk health. There are some discussions about it on the net. Luckily Samsung has released a driver update that fixes this. Still you might want to look out for this issue to reappear or at least know about it in case people ask you.

That's a great option to buy. A lot of storage without losing the read and write speeds.

Solid review Dave. I'd be curious to know what the power consumption of the 990 Pro is compared to drives like the SK Hynix p41 (current efficiency king). Hoping we get more single sided options soon.

Hey David, according to specs, my x17 r2 memory is maxed at 64g. Is it possible to go for 96g?

Great review Mash IT! I managed to grab one for cheaper than either the P3 or 790 with cashback and rewards that they have going on for Samsung. That single sided 4Tb will be exceptionally handy for slim laptops with only a single M2 Slot.

Nice that you add the ambient temperature, most others don't. Yours being 18C, and the 990Pro running at 50C, in a more average home/office environment we can expect to see your 50C benchmark go to 60C. That means everyone has to nonetheless seriously consider good cooling on their SSDs, even when opting for this high-performer.

thanks for the video just got curious how much is the 4tb version and then saw the 2tb version has a $40 coupon, I instantly bought it lol, it's much cheaper than my 980pro 2tb which I got on sale for $120, the only thing is the delivery time is in 2 weeks but I can wait haha.

I installed The 1TB version of this drive in my Thinkpad P14s gen 4 and its running really hot. Does anyone if the version with heat sink will fit my laptop?

Hi,
have you tested if there is a difference in cooling or performance between putting this ssd in the top and bottom slot of the blade 16 please?
I put it in the lower slot as my c: and the original 2tb on top as storage but I wonder if I should swap them for better thermals on the primary drive?
Great reviews, thank you

I would like to ask if thinkpad p1gen5 or gen6 points out this hard drive?
