Today marks the start of my wargamers addition of Vlogmas! This series will feature purely Flames of War list building episodes with the plan being 25 videos on list building! So get your list building Christmas hat on and help to amend the lists I create to make them even more competitive. I'd also love to hear if you intend to use any of lists shown so be sure to let me know if you do!

Sorry for the poor mic quality on this one. My fancy microphone was playing silly buggers 😂

My regular opponent plays the british. We play late war but the stats of inf are the same as in mid war. Me playing germans I have a lot of respect for a british infantry list, more than a british tank formation. So I think I have something to say about british infantry in FoW: 😉

*NOTICE*: Normaly we play narrative, not competative. That's what my experience comes from.

-) British self propelled artillery is great, especially againt tanks. AT 3 sounds not much but the top armour of most tanks except heavy tanks is 1. Most of my Panther losses were caused by artillery.
-) HMGs are a "must-have" in an inf list. And because of they can fire an artillery bombardment the Vickers are even better.
-) A weak third inf pln can be good for holding an objective, while the others attack.
-) If you take 6 medium motars they can re-roll unsuccessful hits. This can cause a lot of damage (and pinn your opponents inf of course).
-) 6-pounders are great against tanks except heavy tanks. And if you play against infantry you can move them towards your opponents inf. Because they have the gun shield rule. Normal inf may hit your 6-pounder but having a FP of 6 they won't destroy them very often.
-) The carrier patrol can be annoying if played in a competative style. They can drive around the table and your opponent can't ignore them because they can take the objectiv. Because they are fast it may end in your opponent needing tanks to fight them.

Really enjoying these uploads. Been tempted by flames of war for awhile. Maybe santa will bring me some.

There are far too few FoW players that play infantry based armies. I also love that you chose an army that is that little bit different and that you have attempted to be historically true. For tournament play, it might be a step too far, as most players will be building armies for the win regardless of history. Don't get me wrong, I really hope you do well. Going into the war, the British attempted to make their guns dual purpose. By mid war, this theory was still holding up, just. So your Boffers and 25lbers still have a sting in the tail. Especially if you spread them out so if they go for one, they expose their side armour to the other. I like the Bren gun carriers. They allow you to steal the march at the beginning of the game. They are hard to hit and are very fast. So I normally take 2 patrols and use them as a fire brigade. I would only choose the AT Rifle in the early war period. So I can be aggressive and have endurance. I normally take 3 infantry platoons. So I can have more AT weapons. I go for gun batteries over the priests. The priests are extremely good at cleaning a village of infantry. Good luck with the tournament.

Just a couple of points of correction here;
One thing you forgot to mention with the Priests is their Brutal rule. Teams must re-roll their successful save rolls. I have used this to great effect against Infantry teams in LW with Petards. So since you're now paying the 20 points for 4 shots, you're basically rolling those shots right upon the enemy and hurting them.

Also No HE doesn't prevent a team from targeting an enemy Infantry/Gun Team it adds +1 to score needed to hit. Not ideal, but not the end of the world either.

You mentioned that the Carriers are Scout - which is a +1 to hit them when fired upon, even if moving. It's not a bad rule, especially if you can utilise cover to increase their longevity on the table, despite being a crappy FA1, lol. The Spearhead rule is the one where you can dash forwards at Deployment. Alternatively, the lack of Carrier options to give your Infantry that attacking potential, you can just ride them on the back of your Tanks, should you want to attack an objective - and they're more likely to stay around when shot at.

All in all, this looks like a cool, strike first ask questions later kind of list. Have you used it at all yet and how did it go?
