I went to preschool at a YMCA in the VERY early 2010s, this song brought back memories I didn’t know I had. Thank you.

I use to have a walkman with headphones at like 8 years old and I listened to a tape with this song on it every night when I went to bed. No idea why lol. This gives me great nostalgia.

Anyone else blast this song on headphones and do this in the middle of your room at exactly 12:00 am? Great way to get excited for the new day

I'd like peoples' opinions: Is it ok for me to get choked up over YMCA? I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Japanese-American. Male. I first became very familiar with this song in 1993, which kicked off a GREAT 9 year period. My Dad unexpectedly passed away in 2003, and the "good half of my life" effectively ended in 2002. I had a friend at Peninsula College in Port Angeles, Washington in 1993, and we would visit him and play dunk ball at the elementary school playgrounds, and regular basketball at the nearby YMCA. In I believe 2007, at the El Paso Bowl, Oregon State won, and I saw the halftime show where The Village People performed, and sang YMCA: In the background, I could see the audience doing the 'YMCA" hand motions, and they were all nicely in unison! I admit, I started crying right on the spot, when I saw that. Maybe, there was just SOMETHING so refreshing, seeing people in synch, with this legendary song being played at halftime. Also, whenever I hear YMCA, it takes me back to 1993. For me personally, 1993-2002 was mostly good times.

“ymca not only help young man, but someone who can, t get dreams, poor families, and other stray kinds in any gender, age, even they have disability, having mental condition, having cancer, even lgbt and transgender members, they can help them too, and the ymca give money in the poor individuals.”
