At MWC 2023 the Nokia G22, the Xiaomi 13 Pro, and the Realme GT3 all give us a glimpse into the future of what our phones could (and should) look like. It can be tempting to write off a show like MWC as being too niche or European-focused. But I think its smartphone launches offer an interesting look at where the market is heading next. #MWC #Tech

Does the future of phones look a lot like the past? Or is it just me…

Fast charging, cameras and Foldables?

2021 is it you?

I feel we should either have a physical switch on the charger or software switch in our phones to decide the charging watts we want. For eg - 10-20W for overnight charging and hyper charging for emergencies.

People sleep on fast charging but for me, it's so much better than wireless charging. Miss how fast I could charge my OnePlus 7 Pro

Given the whole speculation around iPhone 15, it’s a nice time to discuss concept phones and designs.

Easy repair is a must. It's not a question of past/future. Computers, laptops, tablets, phones etc.

SIMPLE:
Machines should be repairable.

Are repairable phones water resistant?

I have a unique idea for the newest phones: a smart phone that isn't the size of a small tablet with a single camera in the back and nothing more and sell it for $250.

These aren't "phones" anymore, they are handheld computers where the ability to make phone calls is just one of the features, [Likely] no smartphone demonstrated in the past 10 years has shown off its new technology for making _phone calls_

Luckily I have never been in a scenario where during the middle of the day my phone has either had no charge or in the single digits causing a nervous situation looking for the nearest place to charge but I'd be lying if I said being able to charge even in 30 minutes to full when my Pixel 7 Pro takes well over an hour wasn't enticing. Would I give up all the other reasons I choose my phone (a Pixel in this case) to get this one feature from another brand? That would be a resounding NO but at least the boundaries are being pushed even if it isn't by the companies I choose to buy from.

Seriously good poop. I like this presenter's demeanor and terse explainations.

Smartphones are generally great these days. And it is hard to invent the big leaps of 2018 & 2019. However, with the plateau of tech innovation, it is hard to justify buying $1500 top-end iPhone when $600 Google phone can do 95% of all you ever going to use it for.

We need to start purchasing repairable phones isntead of keep buying slightly better new ones every 2-4 years. Kudos for Nokia!

To repair a Nokia, I need to be able to find and buy one in the market in the first place :)

Speaking of repairs, I'd like to see front screen customization. Everybody has their preference of where the front camera should be, so why not order a fully customizable phone straight from the manufacturer at the same cost as the original?

Why not just charge after you wake up? lol 😆😂😂 seems like a mute point. I mean it'll charge before you even get ready to go anywhere

Underwhelming. Smartphones have mostly matured, only details or cosmetic changes. Not sure what’s going to replace them as a new growth center.

I was thinking it would be cool. if the phone could ask for which speed charging it wants, if you put the phone on the charger the normal way it charges slowly. but if you put it on the charger upside down then it gets rapid charge. just a silly idea i liked
