To celebrate International Women’s Day, Medical Grand Rounds will feature three outstanding women physicians, researchers, educators, and advocates. We’ll hear about their personal journeys, their research, and their roles as leaders in medicine. First up will be Vineet Arora, MD, MAPP, Dean for Medical Education at the University of Chicago and nationally acclaimed researcher on issues relevant to women in medicine — including the gender salary gap among physicians, the role of social media, harassment of women in healthcare, and more. She’ll be followed by our own Urmimala Sarkar, MD, MPH, another leading physician, advocate, and researcher whose work focuses, in part, on implementation science and gender bias. Finally, Diane Sliwka, MD, will talk about UCSF-specific data regarding women at UCSF and the climate for DOM faculty and GME trainees.

Speakers:
Vineet Arora, MD, MAPP, Dean for Medical Education at the University of Chicago Medicine, Pritzker School of Medicine
Urmimala Sarkar, MD, Professor of Medicine, Associate Chair for Faculty Experience
Diane Sliwka, MD, Professor, Chief Physician Experience Officer, UCSF Health

Note: Closed captions will be available within 48-72 hours after posting.

Medicine is still struggling with gender equality. Ask a female cardiothoracic surgeon. Or any surgeon, for that matter. You can have a predominance of women on staff and still see inequality in all of the other areas of practice.
