Out with the Old! Or not? Old vs. New Saint Laurent Loulou

Hi everyone! I have a few handbag comparisons to share with you and this is one of the 3!

Do you like comparisons? I love doing them and watching them and I’m always open to feedback.

Both beautiful bags! I like the addition of the mirror and the leather pouch that comes with the new version…. But I prefer the original version 😊

Very good and very thorough comparison. I think both bags would work in your collection because of the difference in both color and size. Those colors might be in the same family, but are distinctly different shade. Depending on the need I think both bags would be great in any collection in different colors and sizes.

I have aSaint Laurent LouLou. I love them both, and I have a hard time choosing which one I like best. If I had to choose, I think I would choose the old version. Great video and tfs!❤❤❤

This was such a helpful review! Your effort really shows, this must’ve been so much work. 😅 In principle, I like both designs, but imho, YSL shouldn’t have gotten rid of the original style. I think it’s a strange move to deprecate one of your classics. Thank you for sharing! 💕

I have the old version but I like this new Loulou. I have the Gucci Marmont and I found the rectangular, single flap, open style is the easiest for me to carry. I wished it was cheaper though because it's smaller and less material bec they get rid of the divider.

I had the original on my 2025 wishlist in S or M but I don’t think the new model will suit my mum needs unfortunately. It’s cute but should have just been a whole new model/name

Thank you for doing this comparison. I’ve been waiting on this. I love both bags; however, you can see that the old version is better constructed. For one, the flap is better supported on the older version than the newer version. When you carry the newer version, the flap may develop a crease over time from the weight of the chain. The details of the construction is better on the older version. You can see this from the side views of the bag and you can also see this from the bottom of the bag with the stitching. Also, the details on the back of the older version regarding the construction is better than the newer version. The newer version will develop creases from the flap over time.

Another great video ! Thank you for these details, very informative and thorough. I honestly like both bags, they to me are just 2 completely different bags and you are blessed to own both. I have the old version in all Black / Black hardware. I do love the one big space on the new one, but if I had to only pick one, it would be the older version overall. I do also like the thicker chain on the new one. Hmmm 🤔 this new version may be added to my wish list now 😅😅. Awesome review, thank you again !

Great comparison! I must admit… the new version is growing on me. 😂 Still think the new version should have been an addition to the line though. However, I still prefer the old version. I own the small LouLou in black (old version). It’s one of my favorite YSL bags.

I think the wider quilting and the piping on the new version are making it look a bit more basic, less expensive, its kind of giving me a case of the id do have two original, one toy and one small and I don't wear either of those anymore, but I also won't be adding this new one either.
