Hartung Family Farms is a farming operation out of Jackson and Clinton County Iowa, with our main farm located in Preston Iowa. We have around 2400 acres of corn, soybeans, alfalfa, rye, and oats as well as around 750 head of cattle. We have a wide range of International equipment from small tractors from the 1970s to newer large farm tractors!

🚜 Love seeing the farm life in action! From grain hauling to dealing with flat tires, it's all part of the hustle. Stay safe out there, and can't wait to see the full harvest! 🌾

I work with Intermodal trains. With a length of 8, 500 feet or less we put all the locomotives in the front. Over 8, 500 feet to 11, 900 feet we put locomotives front and back, mostly for braking power as the air comes from the locomotives front and back. At 12, 000 feet of length we also put a locomotives in the middle.

The number of motors on the head end and dp's on the rear ( distributed primarily power) is based on weight and grade to destination. Power in the middle helps keep a constant pull and also it will split there and then it will become the head end to move to a different destination and train all together.

You will never get to drive that truck because everything you touch you fuck it up or try to burn it down

The number of engines is based on weight vs. terrain. Remembering that trains use friction for traction, so a slight increase in grade with a heavy train can be a problem. Someone really smart has made the calculations.

Super 10 transmission sucked glad only lasted couple years and they thought it was going to take over trucking. Back in 2001 I deliver all kinds of Freightliner trucks with every transmission. 6 to 18 spend. Best I like is the 13. But lately the standard is auto shift transmission for trucking. Hard to get newer semi with a clutch and stick in floor. Shoot now must coming out of cdl school has an auto transmission license. Back in 2000 they didn’t even off that. First time I heard about that was like 4-5 years ago.
