He didn't have as much for the last 5 minute effort because his 11 minute effort was his gc improvement move. Anyone would feel that regardless of how much sugar or water they had after that. His 5 minute power was still very good at the end. These guys are only human.

Nice analysis, needs more repetition of your main points though

Yates's Scott comes in at 6.85kg disc breaks..

"Many super-domestiques and GC contenders have opted to stay with rim brakes. Yates' new Addict RC is disc-brake only but still comes in only 50 grams above the UCI minimum weight at 6.85kgs. The bikes use 140mm rotors as standard."

Zakarin received a gel before reaching the top of the Peyresourde and dropped it as he was attempting to open it.

I think you’re right. Ran out of carbs. If you watch the footage, there’s not much feeding being shown. Very easy to screw it up in a race like this, with all the adrenaline etc

How many full gas efforts should one be able to get away with it without burning all the matches

Aren't all the bikes at TDF all handicapped to the same weight?
Also The move podcast : when asked what technology Lance and George miss the most racing in their days, both replied disc brakes🤔

Tbh teams like ineos don't have much of a choice. The F12 rim weighs the same as a disc sl7 with the same wheels 🤣
Pinarello really has to work on putting out lighter bikes and not just rely on Ineos using lighweight wheels.
Pogacar has more of a choice and probably rides rim because he prefers it though.

Why cant you just get over it about the disc brakes? There are lots of propfessionals who prefer these brakes. Put your aspergers in check.

did you see lance's "the move" for stage 8? both lance and george were asked which innovation they wish they had back in the day. both said "disc brakes". (i'm happy with any brakes that work)
