It is not likely that Walter Whent was the true power behind the tourney with King Aerys ii Targaryen suspecting his son Prince Rhaegar was using the tourney as a informal great council to depoise him. This would lead to the mad king taking drastic action.

Rhaegar had some good sword behind him. I think it could have work he had a Prince of Dorne, Ser Arthur Dayne, that a great start.All he need was some great houses to back his claim. Everyone loves Rhaegar but it was all his fault.
Even if it was really mandatory that he had to have a child with Lyanna Stark and that she was happy to do it there were many other methods to achieve this without having a great war and the fall of his house.

I think an interesting “what-if” scenario could be told, where Rhaegar does force his father’s abdication. If it still became civil war, imagine Rhaegar, Ned, and Robert all fighting for the same cause

I didn't get a notification for this video, so I have only just watched it. Whilst I hate the way the show butchered Varys' character, as he is so intriguing and complicated, he really is a snake in the grass. So perhaps his pathetic ending in GoT was befitting? Of course his job to Aerys II had gained him wealth and the ability to extend his network of spies, his "little birds", abusing children just as he had been.
