This is part of the Christmas festivities which take place in Austria, Germany...It's a procession led by St. Nicolas and some angels and then by krampus. It's a play on virtue and evil. They remind people especially children to always be nice and not naughty since Krampus is never far away and is always watching them. If they are naughty, Krampus will come for them! It's a wonderful tradition with visual representations of good and evil and a reminder that it's an ongoing battle and that one should strive for virtue or else Hel is waiting for them.

I love this European tradition, it's a pity that it hardly exists in Germany. To understand this festival is similar to Halloween or New Year's Eve, one tries to ward off the Krampus. According to the motto, if the Krampus sees another Krampus in the village, he does not need to infest the village. This tradition is already several hundred years old and is a symbol of good luck in Scandinavian mythology ❤
