How interesting that standards of what’s inappropriate regarding aggressive behaviour have improved with the decline of religious belief, not only in its scope but intensity.
So much for the “god brigade” claiming to have an exclusive franchise on morality.

Wow, if 40% violent behavior is from of people who are intoxicated, that means that the remaining 60% of the violent behavior is from non-intoxicated people. That tells me we should all get drunk all the time so we can reduce violent behavior by 20%. However, let me go and start my brewery first.

Of course the statistic is meaningless until you know the ratio of sober to drunk people at any given time and for that matter probably the ratio localized to where the incident happened, like within a pub itself... and so on. However, regardless of the statistic being mostly useless without more information it still says that you have a 1.5:1 expectation of experiencing a violent crime from a sober person. Let me be surrounded by drunk people, it's safer.

So... the longer a bar is open the more likely something is to happen there. Generalizing, the longer there is for something to happen the more likely that something will happen -- can't argue with that logic. Meaningless, but inarguable.

I get what the guy is trying to say, just his grasp on completeness of presenting data is, well... not so complete so I'm having a little fun with it.

Then there are those who have precise control over their violent impulses. They calmly plan for the multiple circumstances wrapped around an act of violence and move forward to accomplish the act of violence with a calm, satisfying sense of accomplishment. I see it frequently as a full time job. I and my colleagues plan for and move to accommodate the violent ripping and removal of flesh from multiple victims weekly. It’s aggressive, bloody, messy and can be extremely painful, all fully under our combined self control, no psychopathology involved.
