This series is absolutely wonderful! I learned the game a couple years ago and kind of drifted away from it because I wasn’t really understanding the WHY of a lot of strategies and proverbs. So far you’ve done an excellent job explaining why things are good or bad. The episode with the static rook opening in particular was a real lightbulb moment for me. Can’t wait for more episodes!

Przegrałem kilka gier z rzędu z komputerem. Teraz zaczynam rozumieć gdzie popełniałem błędy. Dobra robota. Dzięki.

In chess you only get to castle kingside and sometimes queenside if you are feeling agressive. Cool to see this game has more options!

castles are one of the coolest parts of shogi to me, so much more of interest to choosing which is appropriate and constructing them than chess castling for me

I began to play shogi in Yakuza game series. For beginners this AI may be pretty strong and it is not easy to win. Your videos are very helpful, and since I earlier played regular chess I learn shogi very fast.

Very nice! The Pokemon analogy reminds me of Eriko Yamaguchi's teaching about castle "evolution" which also includes a Pokemon analogy.

If I didn't know Chess then I'll probably be able to absorb and practice the knowledge but it's so different from Chess castling and it's seriously messing me up lol
