Yes, this song is from Saturday Night Fever. He is saying, “What you doing on your back, You should be dancing”. I was a a senior in High School when this album came out. Love The Bee Gees still today!

"What cha doin on your back" is what he is saying there :) Yes, the song was used in Saturday Night Fever by their manager, Robert Stigwood, but was not written to be "disco", just written to be a groovy dance song. They consider themselves mainly to be blue-eyed soul R&B. They have written ALL genres. They are musical geniuses!

There was a Earlier Live videoof You Should Be Dancing that Showed Andy Gibb performing with the Bee Gees. Please react to the one showing all Four Brothers together.

I was in Junior High when Saturday Night Fever was released.

Although a good live performance always best to check out the official videos of any song you’re listening to for the first time - just my opinion. Great reaction guys.👍🏼

The soundtrack was half of that movie and it's worth the time to watch it.

Aren't they great??!! They've been writing and performing their songs since the late 1950s up until the early 2000s. They can play any style and sound great! You should find some of the performances they did as kids (there are a few here on YouTube). They are so cute and they sound so good! In the really early ones Barry is about 16 and Robin & Maurice are approx. 12 years old. Already writing and performing! A real shout out to Mom and Dad for pushing them to this. So much talent! You can watch any of their vids and you can't lose! Here are just a few that you haven't reacted to yet for you to consider: Lonely Days, Words, Jive Talkin', Tragedy, Alone, More Than A Woman, How Can You Mend A Broken Heart, and, well, all of their songs and performances are great! And don't forget to look for a very early one from the late 50s or so just to see how good they were even as little kids. Unbelievable talent. Maybe the best of the last 50 years.

The Bee Gees provided the soundtrack to my middle and high school years:) You have to hear the studio version!! Listen carefully to the first horn break to hear what is probably the best example of their vocal horns. They would often sing the parts for the horns in the writing process, and sometimes the vocals would be left in the final mix. A few requests from this same Vegas concert would be DON’T THROW IT ALL AWAY (dedicated to their. baby brother Andy who died at 30 in 1988) and IMMORTALITY with Celine Dion. Thanks for keeping the music alive:)

This song was originally from their album 'Children of the World '. before SNF ...1976 if I'm correct....but Robert Stigwood wanted to use it in the movie so it was included in the SNF album as well....

I’m 67 and I never needed to know the lyrics all these decades. I’m just learning them now with you lol!
I’ve seen some videos with lyrics or subtitles.

Wasn't there in 97 I think you said but was definitely around when Saturday Night Fever came out and it was awesome I mean it was the big thing for several weeks. And of course the song You Should Be Dancing was real big and the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack and all of the weeks that it was big on the charts and people were kicking to it in the clubs it was good times.
