REVIEW: Alpinestars Tech-Air 5 Air Bag System on my Vespa GTS 300

When I'm out riding Gwyneth, my 2023 Vespa GTS 300 Super Sport (in bianco innocente), I like a little extra protection from the nitwits who drive as an afterthought, including myself. So I recently bought the Alpinestars Tech-Air 5 air bag vest, and I gotta say, it's a sweet piece of kit.
It's certainly not cheap. But it could prove to be more than worth it.

Well, if there was an air bag vest hanging in the garage I would wear it. But I can't say with any certainty if I would buy one. I'm still on the fence regarding a Garmin InReach Mini2 for my "wilderness" adventuring safety when I fall and can't get up. It's $399 bucks.

Like you, I would have to pour all the channel profits plus $399 from my wallet to get one.

Safety is important. So is practice and training. And riding within my skill limits with my ego firmly chained to a tree at home.

Another fine illumination of the art and science of riding a Vespa. Thank you for sharing it.

I didn’t even know airbag jackets existed so now I’ve gotta buy one.

No, I do not have an airbag vest or jacket, but I am considering Helite Turtle 2.
They also have the airbag backpack, a very interesting proposition.
The main reason I did not buy either, yet, is the size and weight of those things.

You should test the airbag if it really works…. Just to be sure and than we don’t need to test it 🤪

To answer your question; for me it’s overkill to wear it. My wardrobe is recently upgraded with a decent jacket and proper helmet afther 17 years 😂

Good point about having only one Back.
You used to hear stories of people doing more damage by Bouncing with an Air Bag System BUT LET'S FACE IT, Moto GP has proven that was a load of proverbial...
For now I just wear my Bike Gear when riding my 250 GTS, in "Silver Grey". Not so Innocent. 😅

I have scoliosis. Got it from the Taliban. It's kinda become my catch-phrase when I meet new people and the ADHD kicks in. Also you can turn those alerts off, I did. :D

That vest went poof. When you walked out of the camera view, ha ha ha. Pizmo Paul.

The first time my phone went off on one of those Amber alerts the sound came through the vehicle’s speakers because I had it connected via Bluetooth. When it first went off I almost had a wreck. Seriously. I Googled how to shut that sh!t off permanently at my next stop. That was when it was first implemented. I thankfully haven’t heard that crap since.

Is it possible to store the tech air 5 under the seat of the Vespa when your not riding? Or doesn't it fit in the storage compartment? Grtz from Belgium 🇧🇪

Right, said bug. For $800, I bought my '01 Vespa ET-2 back from the numbskull I made the mistake of selling her to...a "scooter rescue, " so to speak. Hey snazzy pink shirt, BTW!

G’day Bug, I can’t afford 800 cents to keep my back safe, therefore I am looking for a woman to ride pillion with me, I reckon a strip of Velcro on our jackets would give me good back protection 🤔… I really can’t understand why no females will ride pillion with me. Any thoughts??🙄🤣🤣… On a serious note, I reckon you do O.K on this channel. Ridgy Didge, true blue content mate. Hooroo 🏍👍😎
