Arteries and veins carry oxygenated and deoxygenated respectively . If this two types of blood get mixed with each other the energy produced will be less and that will not be sufficient to maintain the temperature in warm blooded animals.

There are separate sets of blood vessels between heart and lungs to facilitate the easy exchange of oxygenated and deoxygenated blood.... .it also helps in maintaining body temperature and meet the high energy requirements of the body

Hlo mam the answer is to prevent the mixing of blood for sufficient supply of oxygen to maintain the temperature of the body and also to reach the higher energy requirements.

Last question's answer (I think) is that all arteries carry oxygenated blood to other parts of the body but pulmonary artery carries deoxygenated blood to the lungs for oxygenation, and veins carry deoxygenated blood to the heart, while pulmonary carries oxygenated blood which is to be transported to the other parts. These pulmonary blood vessels have these different characteristics hence they are the only ones suitable for the blood flow between the heart and the lungs.
