Makes almost every paid-off car repair a relative bargain.

I will never understand why some people will foolishly get themselves into more trouble over a decision they’re responsible for.

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU Dave. My philosophy is STAY WITHIN YOUR MEANS. Buy only what you can afford, AND NOT WHAT YOU CAN’T AFFORD

My car is 342.00 a month. My new car apr is 5.9. I financed 20, 500. I paid MSRP 29, 000. My trade had 8200 in equity. I’m at 6800 loan amount now for my 24 Honda HRV EXL as I’m paying extra principal. I refused to pay over 30K for a car. I walked away on many dealers. Don’t over pay

Be smart people. Go used with a reliable brand with low miles. People out here spending 100k plus on new trash brands is ridiculous.

Prices have been going up and up and up since 2012. A recession is overdue, so I fear the one that is coming.

"manufacturers are afraid to lower prices because of profit margins " Dude, the only fear they have now is to lower their prices enough will upset the whole financial chain they support. No, they know they need to DUMP their inventory and cut production - but the problem is the entrenched chain. These companies know they are heading for bankruptcy without massive changes.

Worked fine driving through that storefront.

In October 2020 I paid $16, 500 for a Mazda CX3 that had about 20K miles on it. It has 62K on it now and I hope it last as long as my 1996 Nissan Sentra I kept for 19 years.

Dave, here’s my question for you. I know you’re standing up for us the consumer. Where is the fine line between making money inflation and simply being ripped off no matter if it’s a new car or a used car? So what would you do would you keep making profits if you or the company? Or if you’re that desperate, would you give real good discounts that people can really afford so the new models can’ come on the lot?

I bought a used Toyota RAV4. Payments are $375, insurance $107 per month.
It has leather, blind spot monitoring, navigation, lane assist, power lift gate. I'm happy with it. I wanted something I can pay off in 18 months.

Beware of late model used cars on dealership lots. They get many of them from car auctions that were repoed. Chances are they were abused.

I researched and test drove the car I wanted to purchase for more than a year before I made the move before thanksgiving. since I am very familiar with what I was looking for, I paid 5000-10000$ less than the local Southern California prices. I searched across the country and focused mainly on 500 miles range. then I flew to Northern California and got my CPO LX 570 for way under what I would have paid for if I purchased it in Los Angeles or orange county.

There's used car opportunists out there 👍Marketplace, Craigslist, yes some can be scamy 😒 As a Gen X, there's a plethora of information out there 👍 Back in the day you'd have to run to the library to look at the latest NADA guide 😄 Do your due diligence and get a PPI 👌

My reality is, I will never buy a new/newer overpriced cheaply made soon to fail vehicle. My last new and last time stepping foot on a dealer lot of any kind was in 2002 and I still have said vehicle. I only buy used from local owners when I need or just want another vehicle. I won't even look at a vehicle that is less than 8 to 10 years old and has less than 150K give or take miles. If they are still on the road at that age and mileage they are worth a look. I have the ability to fix what is needing fixed with a bit of time and money. I will remove or bypass the silly things not working like backup cameras, heated seat controls, remote starts, key less entry and so on and so forth. I will use such non working items, millage and age to whittle down the asking price.

That Mazda lot should have sold the car at auction.

I'm in the market for buying a car new/used. Think I'm gong to wait and see how this mess turns out.

You didn’t get the other side of the story. You’re just assuming what a used car salesman is claiming.
