The manufacturer of Dr. Boz's microphone would do well to sponsor her channel here. It's the best sound-quality of any channel I've ever heard.

I had a ferritin of 8-11 for years. Despite asking several doctors for help including a hematologist, and I had to beg my Dr. for the referral, which he didn’t agree to till I burst into tears, not a one care doctor to help. They all just sent me to CVS for iron tabs. Better now @ 50. Thanks dr Boz!

Dr. Boz. I am so grateful to come across this video. I recently had labs, and my ferritin measured at a 4, which really explains a lot. I will be 12 weeks pregnant this Wednesday and this video is such a blessing and a wealth of information. My midwife put me on non-heme iron supplements. I am not even sure how well they are working considering how I feel. Thankfully I have desiccated beef liver that I will be taking and look forward to improving my health and wellbeing.

Pica. I clearly remember saying to my husband- I think ice is my favorite food! I was crazy about it! Couldn’t get enough. Ate it at all times of day, even if I was cold. I had no idea that I was so anemic it was filling my lungs with fluid and starting to damage my heart. I ended up with a hypertensive crisis and in the hospital for multiple days, avoiding a stroke or heart attack by dumb luck or the grace of god, depending on your perspective. I had so many symptoms, horrible headaches in the middle of the night, a cough when laying down, out of breath walking up a flight of stairs. I never connected the dots, I thought it was from being fat, or long Covid, or anxiety. But it was all driven by something so simple. Now I’m 45 pounds lighter, on a keto and fasting lifestyle, and reborn into a new life. Tell your friends! Tell your loved ones! Everyone should know!

As I understand it, there is light ferritin and heavy ferritin. Ferritin is not stored in the blood. Ferritin found in the blood is not indicative of iron status because ferritin in the blood is light ferritin and contains little or no iron and is little more than a marker for inflammation. If you want, I could post a link to an article that explains this.
More often than not, persons diagnise as anemic don't need uron they need bioavailabke copper needed fir ceruloplasmin which regulates iron and gets iron in the organs back into circulation. This us why people who take chlorophyll, which is high in copper, will resolve their anemia.
Taking zinc supplements can cause a copper deficiency because copper and zinc need to be balanced.

The bioavailability of iron from blackstrap molasses is huge. I went from anemic to good in one week while pregnant.

When I was over weight and had a fully clogged gall bladder, my ferrinton was as low as 3, and extremely iron deficient. After taking care of the gall bladder, I added ox-bile to help fat digestion, and supplement with Soft iron, complex vitamin B from nutritional yeast, Heem iron from liver /spleen pills. I also prepare some pork liver for myself during my period. Now I am finally back to normal range with ferrintin around 40, and iron around 70.

Hey Dr Boz! I’ve noticed that if I eat sugary foods, I get deep purple bruises very easily in many spots on my legs!! If I stay on keto correctly, I don’t have leg bruises!!! Do other people have this??

With a ferritin of 2 (for many years) my doc recommends iv iron infusion, but I am worried about complications. Are there things in the blood work to look at to determine risk factors with iv iron?

My ferritin is 29 after taking ferrous sulfate for 3 months every other day.
But now my Hematocrit shot up to 46.7. Why is this? Wbc is good, rbc is good. I don't smoke or drink. I'm 57yrs. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Any background knowledge? Do you have any videos on iron?

Hello! You never talked about HGB levels. My HGB is 13.1 and my CBC is normal but my Ferritin is 6.6, Saturation is 9%, TIBC is 430, Iron SerPl QN is 37, and UIBC is 393. I'll tell you these labs were shocking because I've always been told I had high iron because my HGB is always high. After watching this live I'm a little freaked out that I have critically low levels of iron. I'm a 42 year old female, still cycling and hetero for hemachromotosis. My doctor told me to take an iron supplement after these lab results. I've been taking floradix and I take a daily beef organ supplement, even before these labs. Do I need to do something else? Should I be concerned?

My Ferritin last tested at 3.8. I just learned i had H Pylori. Have you done any teachings on how H Pylori causes iron absorbtion issues?. CRP was last tested at 14. I have been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. All of these has me interested in educating myself. The road it is taking me on is researching microbiome and gut health. Thank for you channel, new subscriber 🙂

I have low ferritin for 3 years and I have been taking iron supplement for all this time is not doing anything for me. It went up from 6 to 25 in over 2 years. Hair fall is the worst for me. I’m avoiding everything that stops iron absorption with no results
