Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says Chinese Premier Li Qiang’s visit this week “marks the first visit by a Chinese leader to Australia since 2017”.

“It comes amid a background of increasing tension with China over naval incidents and the threat of war in the Taiwan strait,” Mr Clennell said.

“This in some ways a treading on eggshells moment, not least of which perhaps Peter Dutton who will meet Premier Li after making strong public statements about what he sees as the misbehaviour of China.
