Thunderbolt 2 and mDP (Mini Displayport) are two different things so make sure if you buy a dongle for thunderbolt 2 that it say explicitly that it is Thunderbolt 2 if it does not say that then it is only mini displayport. The dongle in this video is "mDP" Mini Displayport NOT Thunderbolt 2. It doesn't claim to be thunderbolt 2 either but that is an easy mistake that could be made since Thunderbolt 1 & 2 used the Mini Displayport port. But just like Thunderbot 3 and USB-C are different Thunderbolt 1 & 2 and mini displayport are two completly different things.

Hopefully you have figured out that what you refer to as a "Thunderbolt" port on the hub is actually a "mini-Display" port, which will NOT drive your Apple Thunderbolt Display, even though the connectors and ports look the same.

So annoying that the thunderbolt plugin doesnt work. Everywhere on the internet it says two monitors, but that is bs. Therefore it is way to overpriced in my opinion. Dont get me wrong it looks really slick and it comes with a leather cover, but i loved me a second monitor with mini displayport. For now the hdmi works just fine

Its does say on the amazon product page for that adapter that the mini display port which uses the same connector as Thunderbolt version 1 and 2 does not support Thunderbolt display or storage

Thanks for the review! I got mine from the apple official page, it cost me 65 USD, sometimes it losts connect. I think this one you share has a fair price.

i went checking the specs, is actually not a thunderbolt (thats why doesnt work) but a mini DP, which would be fine to enter an mini dp adaper into a old mac cinema display

I bought the Hyper-drive 11 port. which has the mini display port. But it randomly kick off my usb hard drive. I'm just going with the apple display port cable and a smaller USB hub. It's been a process trying to find the best hub - BTW...I like your laptop stand!
