Merlene Ottey's anchor leg was absolutely amazing.

In my view, Gwen Torrence is one of the very best sprinters in the history of athletics!

The more time that goes by just makes me more amazed at the great Merlene Ottey. Her top quality consistency over so long a period is mind-boggling.

Gail Devers brought my attention to the sprinting ladies of the track. She was powerful! Then my mom told me about Evelyn Ashford and Flo-Jo...LOVE!! Marion sped her way into my heart (she trains one of my best friends, now), along with that Pocket Rocket, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce...WOOOO!! Then I saw Carmelita Jeter...I am STILL SMITTEN!! And then there is Allyson...so much grace and beauty!!

Side note: These baton passes by the U.S. teams on both sides are comparable to horror films for me!! Goodness!!

When you see all those Scrunchies, you know it’s the 90’s.

Big shoutout to the US team; they did well despite the handoffs! Also, shoutout to the JAM team, and especially Merlene Ottey; she was behind and pulled off Bronze! Bahamian team, you all did wonderful!

I absolutely LOVE how they didn't mention The Bahamas during the entire race until we were in the Silver Medal position.
Pretty much the same when we won Gold in 2000.

This US team had the speed to break the East German's world record, BUT, shaky handoffs stopped them. They were still the class of the field.

I also didn't appreciate Gwen Torrence until it was long overdue but good on her. I say the best women's sprinter over time was Evelyn Ashford however for one magical Olympics FLO-JO was like a rocket. her 200 times would have beat many men's efforts

Wow shout out to Inger Miller. That was not a good hand off from Gail to Inger, but Inger flew around that curve to give Gwen such a big lead.

Gwen was plenty successful on her own but she was THAT GIRL in some relays. Both in the 100 and 400 sprint relays, she had another gear entirely.

I miss this entire generation of sprinting. With me, it started with Evelyn Ashford. Gail Devers, Gwen Torrence...miss these ladies leading the USA contingent.
