Possibilities and limits when importing landscapes in Unreal Engine 5.
For UE 5.0 32 km x 32 km is about the limit what can be edited on a up-to-date gaming PC with reasonable frame-rate.

Please note: the values are valid for UE 5.0 with 1 vertex per meter landscape resolution.
With UE 5.1 due to changed memory management, it is possible to import bigger landscapes.

From Landscaping 7.0 on there is also an optimized algorithm to import vast landscapes as World Partition at lower resolutions which look awesome.

So in theory, I 'could' create a 128x128 km landscape, but divide it into chunks of 32x32 km or even 16x16 km and only load what is needed to work on / view. Maybe then create skybox textures from snapshots of the current chunk with offset of all other chunks and blend it in the skybox of the current chunk on save. This could create the illusion of having extremely large maps with insane render distance ;). The only problem would be the loading/unloading of the chunks. I don't know how long the loading time would take. Or just make 4x4km chunks and load only 2 more chunks in each direction of camera position

Your documentation and this video demonstrate that it is possible to create and work on a 2000km2 area even with 32GB RAM but only if a small part of the map is "worked on" (a small number of cells are loaded) before working on the next section. Is this correct, please?

great effort dear, im fairly new to unreal, im doing a landscape in 3dsmax, like a mini city, and later i plan to import into unreal for archittechtural visualization and possiblieties of how interactive i can get, im currently in the process of cleaning and detialing the gis data, i wonder if its less job to do it once and for all in unreal, or do my way. thanks

Hallo, ich habe ein Landscape mit World Machine gemacht 160 km² 8x8 ich bekomme allerdings nicht mehr als 45 fps PIE. Ich glaube ich habe die Grids falsch eingestellt denn ich musste die Loading range auf 20000 begrenzen und die Zellengröße auf 500 ansonsten kann ich die HLODs nicht builden aufgrund des VRAM´s. Ich habe einen Ryzen 9 5900X, 64 Gb DDR4 RAM, RTX 3080 sollte also eigentlich reichen aber ich denke ich hab mich da mit den gridsizes vertan oder sonst was falsch gemacht. Auch wenn ich foliages reinpacke geht die FPS sowas von in den Keller. Wäre das alles mit deinem Plugin geregelt? also würde ich damit ein ca 160 KM² großes Areal machen können und hätte ne ordentliche FPS?

I went into plugins turned on all landscaping plugins, The Landscape does not show up .

I want to bring in the island of Jamaica in to the engine using this plugin, but im having issues, I'm using 5.3, and I have a DEM file for Jamaica,
