I have NEVER heard of children choking on a McDonald's plastic bag puppet. I remember when these came out in the early 80s. My friends and I used to collect them along with other McDonald's happy meal toys and NEVER put them in our mouths. You don't give children enough credit for they are smarter than you believe.

I never found Furbies creepy. I can kinda see why people think they're creepy now, but I just can't dislike them. All that demonic stuff people made up about them just made me think they were misunderstood or something. I grew up with a green baby furby, so the voice I imagined was cuter I guess.
