My heart is breaking. Absolutely breaking. Both Coco and Karl are probably turning in their graves at this insulting disgrace of a show! Haute Couture is supposed to evoke a sense of wonder and excitement. But this show has nothing. No beauty. No wonder. More disappointingly it has no imagination. What a terribly sad day for Chanel 💔

What's with the makeup?! Why some of them have black eyes?, smudges on their face? Where did they get these models, some can't keep a straight posture. Chanel is working for 14 year olds now

I'm not the kind of person who believes that haute couture needs to be a performance in order to be beautiful and in these times, I feel like couture should have a aspect of fantasy, or at least be one of a kind. These are gorgeous, well-made garments and I really love Virginie's modern, sleek take on the classic codes (some of these pieces are truly exquisite)....but it doesn't translate to couture as distinctly as I'd like. There is nothing to differentiate this from RTW. Beautiful, but somewhat sober.

It would have been magnificent for the horse to have taken the most massive dump at the very beginning of the show. Nothing against the collection (other than some of the models having black eyes where, clearly, the horse must have kicked them in the face backstage), it's just that I remember when I was a kid in high school marching band, having to step over mounds of horsedookie during street parades while playing clarinet. GOOD TIMES.

Not impressed, not inspired at all. There were just a couple garments that might have stood out, but I'm being generous with even that compliment.

Virginie is a modern woman.
Her take at Chanel brings it more in line w the original DNA of Madame Chanel:
Simplicity and quality.
However, a string of pearls or a beautiful cuff at the wrist wouldn’t have hurt any of these looks.
I understand people complaining,
but Mr. Lagerfeld’s vision at times, the house, was one of excess and sexcess.
He was a “particular” man designing for women.
One must consider his upbringing and charmed life in Germany.
Mr. Lagerfeld was an eccentric and took full advantage of his resources.
All this informed his design aesthetics.
His own eponymous line was one of minimalism and futurism.
His line for Fendi full bravura and Italian luxe.
He also knew how to read the room so to speak.
The culture of the moment.
Things have changed.
Virginie knows this.
She’s reading the room.
