Fat Bike Dream Build | RSD Mayor V5

I recently sold my Surly Ice Cream Truck and put the money straight towards my next fat bike. The bike I wanted was the RSD Mayor V5, but no complete builds were available for several months. Luckily they had some frames available and I had the ambition to build my bike from the frame up.

In this video I go over the reasons why I chose this bike frame, how I’ve set it up, and what my future plans are for my new fat and 29+ bike.

I’ve got a silver rigid Mayor coming in October as one of their completes. It’ll be my first fat bike and second mountain bike coming from my Canfield Nimble 9. So stoked on your video and to get mine!

I've been 👀👀 the Mayor for a while now and I am glad you picked one up. Hope the fat wheel set comes in soon to get a full fat review after the 29+ review. Great videos bro.

Sold the ICT??? (Darth Vader voice😂) All good, the Mayor is one of the slackest fat bike I am aware of. Enjoy! The current ICT top tube is noticeably lower than the older jump bar bikes.

Curious to know what else you shopped. I'm shopping for a new fatty too and leaning more towards the aggressive side ie. RSD Mayor, Rocky Mountain Blizzard, and Wyatt Maverick.

Hey I am considering a similar switch (current ride is ICT on Clownshoes/Wrathchilds, considering RSD Mayor v5) as I want a ligher/more nimble winter bike. Mostly riding groomed trails. Can you compare these two bikes as fat bikes yet?

You might struggle to fit a 27.5X4.5 tyre in that bluto.  Thats where the mastodon comes in.

I’ve always wondered why they were called Fatbikes & why their wheels were bigger as a kid……
Someone told me it was to carry their Obese owners.

Nice bike, how long did you have to wait?

I am going to have to try and rent a fatbike to see how they ride. I have seen a guy riding a full suspension fatbike regularly on one of our local trails. The guys at one of our LBS ride fatbikes on a regular basis, they were saying how it takes a trail you're use to and makes it "new" again.
Personally I have a plus hardtail w/ 27.5 x 2.8's and absolutely love it.

Sweet build. Do you think you’ll try the surly corner bars when they drop in September?
