Having been born in Toronto I think I am obliged to tell you the truth. Toronto is a safe, fairly clean, and modern city. Canadian heritage isn't really acknowledged in Toronto though, since it is a very multicultural city and half of the people seem to be either immigrants, or children of immigrants. Toronto is also lacking in things expected in most metropolitan cities, such as numerous museums and good subway coverage (our subway is getting a bit better). Furthermore, I must address Toronto's climate, since this aspect will decide whether you will be stuck inside most days or not (esp if you like the outdoors). Toronto has cold winters (which can also be frigid and long-lasting) and hot and humid summers, as in 30 C plus humidity. In most of Canada you will have to live through cold winters and mild to hot summers, except for the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island in British Columbia. So basically Toronto is great for those who don't really care about the outdoors and wish to party. Lastly, let me just give you short descriptions of the weather in the more popular Canadian provinces. Nova Scotia - Foggy, cloudy, and surprisingly pleasant summers / Quebec - Snowy, cold, windy, semi-hilly / Ontario - Hot, cold, muggy, sunny / Manitoba - Never-ending winters, dryer summers / Saskatchewan - Dryer, cold, ???? / Alberta - dry summers, not frigid winters, varying winter weather / British Columbia - Dry, sunny, mountainous in east mild, wetter, and cloudier in west. Best Climate: British Columbia, Best Employment Opportunities: Ontario, Best Culture: Quebec, Best Bear: Northwest Territories. Take my advice for what you will.
