reminds me of this one time, a smurf offered to carry me (and did in fact carry me for a few rank sessions), then proceeded to try and ask about my personal information such as age, gender, and discord tag. I was not a minor by that point and sensed that something was off so I politely refused and dodged the questions, but it makes me wonder what would've happened if I wasn't so aware of what was happening and assumed this person was just trying to make friends. Stuff like this sounds like it'd only happen to a select few people but it's a lot more prevalent than we think. Thanks for covering the topic and happy gaming!

I used to play with a 27-year-old while im (still) a minor.
He would gift me a ton and would help me in the game, especially cause we had common interests and i thought he was just being nice
He was not infact just being nice. Some of my friends even offered to deal with him because of how pushy and manipulative he was towards me (someone who still didn't understand how his behavior was affecting me). I still didnt understand how what he was doing was bad but also felt uncomfortable whenever he would act like this.
So whenever anyone is able to talk about topics like this is ACTUALLY very helpful so other people dont make the same mistakes and take precaution!!

I wish call outs like these were more common back in 2021. I used to be a big fan of this one IDV creator who was relatively dominating the field because he had gained a substantial following over a short period, but many of my friends (as well as like 10 other minors..) came out to me to speaking about his inappropriate behavior (both online AND irl) and literally nothing came of it when i tried to bring him to justice. I even made a lengthy google document with stockpiles of evidence when I was relatively young myself and it was basically me and the victims against everyone else. whenever i tried to talk about it, every single one of his fans attacked me without giving it a second thought, and he himself was childish- acting as if what he had done was something that could be easily glossed over. He never addressed it, and continues to play IDV to this day though I don’t think he posts on his main channel anymore. I don’t even want to think about the other victims that could’ve been possibly harmed by his actions because I know how hard it is to speak up against someone with an obvious power imbalance and influence.. I appreciate what you did in this video and I’m glad how normalized it became for topics like these to be talked about.

Myself and someone very close to me have seen some really disgusting creeps trying to talk to us, and (the person close to me) theirs was a case that went on (they’re good now, and we take very careful precautions). It’s horrible that this happens, and I’m sick of it.

Side note to any children/minors/whatever, if there is a random stranger (especially if they are trying to get extremely close to you, I’m not talking about streamers being generous or whatnot) be careful if they are very eager to gift you, and spend money on you, this can be from gr00mers, and this is sometimes a way they do it. Just be careful

As an adult myself i can't believe how some people are like that. To any minor: Don't share private things with them and preferable just cut-off the chat and better stop chatting with adults. As well let other trustful people know about it if someone is creeping you. I was moderating several forums and servers in the past, and i can tell you there are so many disgusting adults online it's ridiculous.
What i do if i encounter a minor as an adult in a video game or in discord etc., i warn them about the possible danger, as well tell them where to get help if something like that happens to them. I let them know to never trust adults online, because you never know their true intentions. I think as an adult it's not only our duty to stop messaging minors and keep our distance to create a safe-space for them, but also to educate them and warn them. That's why i always prefer to warn them about the problems and educate them around this topic before i stop messaging them. I don't know if this is the best way to handle this but other adults are free to share their opinion about it.

while i don't know which individual you're referring to, i don't know why it has been more common now than EVER like it's almost like every single day we wake up, someone else that we once loved turned out to be an absolute creep. i actually used to watch lots of fortnite gameplay and drdisrespect was a big circulation in that area a few years back, and it is seriously absolutely mind blowing that even he was involved in this. he was the biggest creator ever, big enough to take on the entire world-- and he threw it all away to be a creep, like so many other big content creators that kids looked UP TO. that they took INSPIRATION from. even though the world is full of suffering, the world is also full of the overcoming of it. i just wish we spread more of the overcoming part, not the other way around.

I've been around in this game since the first season and know a lot of people and information by now, i've inside information on a couple of big influencers / top players being massive creeps (although not necessarily pedophiles) harassing people. Some of the names which are people from who you'd least expect it.

I've had it myself too recently, I opened my socials to see 8 hours worth of creepy messages from someone in idv I only played with from time to time, it's awful how some people are. It also made me quit the game for a couple of months now since I was grossed out and done with this shit.

I notice meeting people in idv is either split between super chill people who you can meet and be friends with on a personal level, and on the other side the biggest creeps you'll see in your life, it's really 50/50 no in between. It's a good thing you spread awareness to this and open up your platform to people who need it, I really hope it helps some people and can make a improvement ❤

Crazy everytime i come back to idv there's another content creator with grooming allegations and being exposed, I'm glad you took your time to make a video about it, because its been happening for too long and frequently, please anyone adult or minor be careful.

This almost went past me because I thought the person close to them talking about this was clickbaiting, but man.... why can't people just be normal- it's not even don't talk to minors but just, , , don't be weirdddd. Maybe I'm biased but I got along with adults quite well when I was a teen and they helped give me a lot of perspective on things. Luckily they were all good people though.

As for this case (assuming I'm assuming the right one pfft-), I didn't know this person at all, but I used to be rly active in another instance of something like this happening (Patience). I donated a few times, and talked directly to him a few times as well. Luckily I was alr falling out of the community before the news came out so it didn't hit me that hard but.... it really makes me paranoid. I try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt (relationships are complex sometimes, people do things they regret sometimes, and cases like Kwite who was slandered more than truthfully accused do also happen as well) but at the end of the day it sucks how often things like this happen. I was a vulnerable fresh 18yo once, I let myself be talked into things before... I can't imagine how shitty it would have been if that weren't random strangers who didn't know me, but people I looked up to and were part of a community I enjoyed. My earnest wishes go out to anyone experiencing these situations.

As a viewer (definitely the lesser victim), it also makes me feel a sense of paranoia whenever I donate to anyone tbh, like "what if they turn out to suck". And it makes me feel bad because I don't believe they would do anything like that but.... it's not like you expect people to be shitty in these instances.

I'm glad this person's team took actions openly and addressed this though. it at least makes me trust them more, and will help avoid any "dig up shit on them" drama later in their career paths imo.

unfortunately i was in the same space as the person whom you're referencing, who i obviously won't name. however what i will say is that he did exhibit other strange behaviours such as get extremely angry for minors (upwards of 16/17) for making nsfw jokes, but then, in a conversation involving majority minors (besides himself there were two adults), eluded to having a pregnancy scare before quickly deleting the message even though we had all seen it. it was at that point i got red flags and distanced myself.

thank you for speaking up about this, and it's sad we have to remind adults to have common sense and NOT talk to people under the age of 18, especially since the idv community has many young adults / teenagers who are just shy of turning 18. again, thank you slade
